Aporphine alkaloids and lignans in heartwood of Liriodendron tulipifera

Phytochemistry, 1976
Abstract The following compounds were isolated from heartwood of Liriodendron tulipifera : glaucine, dehydroglaucine, asimilobine, N -acetylnornuciferine, norushinsunine, liriodenine, O -methylatheroline, (+)-syringaresinol, (+)-syringaresinol dimethyl ether and syringaldehyde.

Lirinine — A new alkaloid from Liriodendron tulipifera

Chemistry of Natural Compounds, 1973
1. The leaves ofLiriodendron tulipifera have yielded a new alkaloid, lirinine. On the basis of a study of the UV, IR, NMR and mass spectra of lirinine the structure of 5-hydroxy-2,6-dimethoxyaporphine has been proposed for it.

Chromoplasts in the Petals of Liriodendron tulipifera L.

Zeitschrift für Pflanzenphysiologie, 1979
Summary The structure of Liriodendron tulipifera petal chromoplasts was investigated. The orange zone of developed flowers contains chromoplasts of the reticulo-tubulous type. They are crowded with branched and curved tubules arranged in a network (reticulum). Numerous plastoglobules are located among the tubules.

Peroxyferolide: a cytotoxic germacranolide hydroperoxide from Liriodendron tulipifera

Journal of the Chemical Society, Chemical Communications, 1976
An allyl hydroperoxy sesquiterpene lactone, peroxyferolide (2), from the leaves of L. tulipifera was characterized by spectral and chemical methods and prepared from lipiferolide (1) by photosensitized oxygenation.

Transfer of Foreign Genes into Yellow-Poplar (Liriodendron Tulipifera)

1991
Yellow-poplar can be regenerated from tissue culture by somatic embryogenesis. The transformation of embryogenic cultures should allow the production of transgenic yellow-poplar plants. Direct gene transfer methods have been used to introduce the gene encoding s-glucuronidase (GUS) into protoplasts (polyethyene-glycol mediated uptake, electroporation ...

INTEGUMENTARY STUDIES IN THE POLYCARPICAE IV LIRIODENDRON TULIPIFERA L.

Acta Botanica Neerlandica, 1977
SUMMARY Despite the great differences in type of seed dispersal and seed structure, Liriodendron and Magnolia show similarity in their ovule ontogeny and in the early phases of seed development. The ovule primordium is 3-zonate; the inner integument is dermal, and the outer integument subdermal in origin.
