Listeria

Infection Control & Hospital Epidemiology, 1991
Infections with Listeria monocytogenes have been increasing in incidence over the last decade. Listeria species are found widely in the environment, frequently isolated from the soil, water, sewage, and from a variety of wild and domestic animals ...

The Murein Types of Listeria grayi, Listeria murrayi and Listeria denitrificans

Systematic and Applied Microbiology, 1983
The amino acid sequences of the mureins of the type strains Listeria grayi ATCC 19120, Listeria murrayi ATCC 25401 and Listeria denitrificans ATCC 14870 were determined. L. grayi and L. murrayi contain the murein variation A1γ (A(2)pm-direct-type) which is also present in the type strain of L. monocytogenes. L. denitrificans has a different murein.

Listeria Endophthalmitis

Archives of Ophthalmology, 1979
Listeria endophthalmitis developed in a patient who was being treated for extensive metastases of carcinoma of the breast. At the time of admission she was receiving cobalt therapy, chemotherapy, and high doses of oral steroids. The early identification of organisms with an immediate paracentesis and the early institution of broad-spectrum antibiotics ...

Plasmids in Listeria

Plasmid, 1982
Abstract Thirty-two Listeria strains, including L. monocytogenes of the different Seeliger serovars, L. grayi and L. murrayi, have been analyzed for the presence of plasmids. A cryptic plasmid of 38.5 Md was found in seven strains: in four L. monocytogenes (serovars 1 2 c , 4b, 4d, and Ivanov 1), and in both the L.

Proposal to Retain Listeria murrayi and Listeria grayi in the Genus Listeria

International Journal of Systematic Bacteriology, 1987
The 16S ribosomal ribonucleic acid oligonucleotide catalog of Listeria murrayi was found to be closely related (similarity coefficient, 0.73) to that of L. monocytogenes. These data, together with the phenotypic similarity found among all Listeria strains tested, provide no support for the exclusion of L.

Biodiversity of the species Listeria monocytogenes and the genus Listeria

Microbes and Infection, 2007
This review describes the Listeria monocytogenes genome sequences available today and their comparison with that of Listeria innocua and Listeria welshimeri by highlighting their characteristic features and common traits. The diversity present among them is analysed with emphasis on putative virulence and host-pathogen interaction related functions ...
