Growth performance of blue shrimp, Litopenaeus stylirostris in self-cleaning microcosm tanks

Aquaculture, 2009
Abstract Outdoor microcosm tanks were used to grow the penaeid blue shrimp, Litopenaeus stylirostris, in Brunei Darussalam. The tanks were cylindrical, free standing fiber glass tanks of 1827 L water holding capacity and had a self-cleaning mechanism.

Effect of salinity on the thermoregulatory behavior of juvenile blue shrimp Litopenaeus stylirostris Stimpson

Journal of Thermal Biology, 2006
Abstract Preferred temperature (PT) of juveniles of Litopenaeus stylirostris was not modified ( P >0.05) by salinity. The final preferendum of juveniles was 27.8 °C. The critical thermal maxima (CTMax) determined at 42 combinations (6 temperatures×7 salinities) in blue shrimp was not affected significantly by salinity ( P >0.05).

The complete mitochondrial genomes of the yellowleg shrimp Farfantepenaeus californiensis and the blue shrimp Litopenaeus stylirostris (Crustacea: Decapoda)

Comparative Biochemistry and Physiology Part D: Genomics and Proteomics, 2009
Mitochondria play key roles in many cellular processes. Description of penaeid shrimp genes, including mitochondrial genomes are fairly recent and some are focusing on commercially important shrimp as the Pacific shrimp Litopenaeus vannamei that is being used for aquaculture not only in America, but also in Asia.

Effect of dietary histamine supplementation on growth and tissue amine concentrations in blue shrimp Litopenaeus stylirostris

Aquaculture, 2001
Abstract Recent studies have shown that feeding diets supplemented with fish meal containing high levels of biogenic amines to shrimp reduced growth and feed consumption. An improvement in growth, however, has been found in shrimp fed a diet supplemented with histamine and cadaverine.

Life on the edge: physiological problems in penaeid prawns Litopenaeus stylirostris, living on the low side of their thermopreferendum

Marine Biology, 2008
The underlying physiological mechanisms explaining why the adult penaeid prawn Litopenaeus stylirostris cannot successfully face heavy stressful events on the low edge of its thermopreferendum (20–22°C) were studied during the austral winter. Prawns were studied during recovery from net fishing and rapid transfer from outdoor earthen ponds into indoor ...
