“Summer syndrome” in Litopenaeus stylirostris grow out ponds in New Caledonia: Zootechnical and environmental factors [PDF]
The "Summer Syndrome", a septicemic vibriosis caused by Vibrio nigripulchritudo, is responsible for one of the two main seasonal mortalities which affect shrimp aquaculture in New Caledonia. It was identified for the first time in December 1997 in an intensive shrimp farm (called farm DF) and has been enzootic ever since.

Effect of sediment on growth and survival of post-larval Litopenaeus stylirostris (Boone, 1931)
The sediments from four areas that are used or will be used for shrimp culture were evaluated for their effect on post-larvae growth of Litopenaeus stylirostris. Texture, organic matter, total, and bio-available fraction of phosphorus, manganese, iron, zinc, copper, and cadmium of the sediments were measured.

Biofloc technology and periphyton‐based systems enhance the sustainable production of giant freshwater prawn (Macrobrachium rosenbergii). A PRISMA‐guided review (2005 – 2024) shows that BFT improves survival (75 – 78 %) and feed efficiency, while periphyton supports natural productivity in grow‐out.
