Reassortment of Avian Influenza A/H6N6 Viruses from Live Poultry Markets in Guangdong, China. [PDF]

open access: yesFront Microbiol, 2016
Since early 2013, H7N9-subtype avian influenza virus (AIV) has caused human infection in eastern China. To evaluate AIV contamination and the public risk of infection, we systematically implemented environmental sampling from live poultry markets in Guangdong Province.

Competing biosecurity and risk rationalities in the Chittagong poultry commodity chain, Bangladesh [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
This paper anthropologically explores how key actors in the Chittagong live bird trading network perceive biosecurity and risk in relation to avian influenza between production sites, market maker scenes and outlets.

Bioaerosol Sampling to Detect Avian Influenza Virus in Hanoi’s Largest Live Poultry Market [PDF]

open access: yesClinical Infectious Diseases, 2018
Newly emergent and virulent strains of H7N9 avian influenza virus are rapidly spreading in China and threaten to invade Vietnam. We sought to introduce aerosol sampling for avian influenza viruses in Vietnam.During October 2017, National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health 2-stage aerosol samplers were assembled on a tripod and run for 4 hours.

A novel partial lid for mechanical defeatherers reduced aerosol dispersion during processing of avian influenza virus infected poultry.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2019
Infectious virus-laden aerosols generated during poultry processing may mediate airborne transmissions of avian influenza at live poultry markets. To develop effective control measures to reduce aerosol dispersion, we characterised the aerosol flow ...

Multiple introductions of highly pathogenic avian influenza H5N1 viruses into Bangladesh

open access: yesEmerging Microbes and Infections, 2014
Highly pathogenic H5N1 and low pathogenic H9N2 influenza viruses are endemic to poultry markets in Bangladesh and have cocirculated since 2008. H9N2 influenza viruses circulated constantly in the poultry markets, whereas highly pathogenic H5N1 viruses ...

Frequency and patterns of exposure to live poultry and the potential risk of avian influenza transmission to humans in urban Bangladesh

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2021
Avian influenza is endemic in Bangladesh, where greater than 90% of poultry are marketed through live poultry markets (LPMs). We conducted a population-based cross-sectional mobile telephone survey in urban Dhaka, Bangladesh to investigate the frequency ...

Effect of Live Poultry Market Interventions on Influenza A(H7N9) Virus, Guangdong, China

open access: yesEmerging Infectious Diseases, 2016
Since March 2013, three waves of human infection with avian influenza A(H7N9) virus have been detected in China. To investigate virus transmission within and across epidemic waves, we used surveillance data and whole-genome analysis of viruses sampled in Guangdong during 2013-2015.

Pulsed Electrolysis Prevents Sulfur Poisoning for Sustained Sulfide Valorization

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Integrating pulsed electrolysis with Sc‐doped NiFe‐LDH enables sustainable sulfide valorization, achieving >500 h stability, 99.8% efficiency. Moreover, this technology produces high‐purity sulfur and sodium formate, boosting profit by 121% to $1,294.7 per tonne of hydrogen.
