Impact of Recanalization on Liver Hypertrophy after Portal Vein Embolization and the Role of Re‐Embolization

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
This retrospective study of 249 patients undergoing hepatectomy after right portal vein embolization (PVE) demonstrated that major recanalization–defined as recanalization more than one segment within the embolized liver–was associated with impaired regeneration of the future liver remnant (FLR).

TP53 R249S mutation in hepatic organoids captures the predisposing cancer risk

open access: yesHepatology, EarlyView., 2022
The systematic approach in elucidating the gain‐of‐function (GOF) roles of TP53 mutations in early liver carcinogenesis. Unique downstream targets of TP53 L3 mutations were identified from chormatin immunoprecipitation sequencing in HCC cell lines, followed by a series of validation assays to substantiate the exclusive transcriptional regulations ...

Reduced lysosomal acid lipase activity: A new marker of liver disease severity across the clinical continuum of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Lysosomal acid lipase (LAL) plays a key role in intracellular lipid metabolism. Reduced LAL activity promotes increased multi-organ lysosomal cholesterol ester storage, as observed in two recessive autosomal genetic diseases, Wolman disease and ...

Harnessing Large Language Models to Advance Microbiome Research: From Sequence Analysis to Clinical Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Discovery, EarlyView.
Large language models are transforming microbiome research by enabling advanced sequence profiling, functional prediction, and association mining across complex datasets. They automate microbial classification and disease‐state recognition, improving cross‐study integration and clinical diagnostics.

Leveraging corona virus disease 2019 vaccination to promote hepatitis C screening

open access: yesHepatology Communications, EarlyView., 2022
Abstract Health care initiatives, such as hepatitis C virus (HCV) screening, have been greatly overshadowed by the corona virus disease 2019 (COVID‐19) pandemic. However, COVID‐19 vaccination programs also provide an opportunity to engage with a high volume of people in a health care setting.

Gluten-Free hepatomiracle in “celiac hepatitis”: A case highlighting the rare occurrence of nutrition-induced near total reversal of advanced steatohepatitis and cirrhosis

open access: yesThe Saudi Journal of Gastroenterology, 2016
Regression of hepatic fibrosis is increasingly becoming a reality, both in clinical as well as experimental models. Reversal or near-total regression of marked liver steatohepatitis and fibrosis, however, remains a rare event.

Chicken Pulmonary MicroRNAs Targeting the PB2 (Segment 1) of Avian Influenza Virus

open access: yesAnimal Research and One Health, EarlyView.
The PB2 segment of H5N1 is essential for replication and host adaptation. We screened 200 miRNAs and identified five (gga‐miR‐17‐3p, gga‐miR‐29a‐5p, gga‐miR‐1718, gga‐miR‐16c‐5p, and gga‐miR‐1744‐5p) using thermodynamic stability of heteroduplex, seed sequence complementarity, conservation, and accessibility, offering insights into host antiviral ...

Noninvasive tests for nonalcoholic fatty liver disease in a multi‐ethnic population: The HELIUS study

open access: yesHepatology Communications, EarlyView., 2022
Abstract Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is increasing in prevalence and severity globally, prompting noninvasive testing, yet limited data exist on noninvasive liver tests (NITs) including transient elastography (TE) in ethnically diverse populations.

Correlation of Aerobic Exercise and High Nitrate Diet with Population of Eschericia coli in the Digestive Tract of Liver Cirrhosis Individuals

open access: yesThe Indonesian Journal of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Digestive Endoscopy, 2017
Background: In liver cirrhosis, the population of E coli is increased. conditions such as reduced intestinal). Escherichia coli with 2 enzyme nitrate reductase (NRF and Nir) reduce nitrate to nitrite and subsequently converted to ammonia (99%) and nitric
