The Non‐Canonical ChREBPα Activity Suppresses the Activation of Hepatic Stellate Cells and Liver Fibrosis by Antagonizing TGF‐β‐E2F1 Axis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Intrahepatic microenvironment greatly impacts duration and degree of HSCs activation and development of liver fibrosis. By inhibiting TGFβ‐E2F1‐driven production of profibrogenic factors (CTGF and THBS1), hepatocyte ChREBPα monitors hepatic microenvironment and suppresses the overactivation of HSCs.

Elevated serum myostatin level is associated with worse survival in patients with liver cirrhosis

open access: yesJournal of Cachexia, Sarcopenia and Muscle, 2017
We aimed to elucidate the relationship between serum myostatin levels and other markers including skeletal muscle mass and to investigate the influence of serum myostatin levels on survival for patients with liver cirrhosis (LC).

Exosomes From Intestinal Epithelial Cells Promote Hepatic Differentiation of Liver Progenitor Cells in Gut‐Liver‐on‐a‐Chip Models

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The effects of intestinal epithelial cells and their exosomes on the hepatic differentiation of HPCs are explored in a gut‐liver‐on‐a‐chip. Exosomes from intestinal epithelial cells improve liver fibrosis. Moreover, the miR‐371‐373 cluster in the exosomes may mediate this effect by regulating the hepatic differentiation of HPCs.

Predictive model of in-hospital mortality in liver cirrhosis patients with hyponatremia: an artificial neural network approach

open access: yesScientific Reports
Hyponatremia can worsen the outcomes of patients with liver cirrhosis. However, it remains unclear about how to predict the risk of death in cirrhotic patients with hyponatremia. Patients with liver cirrhosis and hyponatremia were screened.

Therapeutic effects of serum extracellular vesicles in liver fibrosis

open access: yesJournal of Extracellular Vesicles, 2018
The lack of approved therapies for hepatic fibrosis seriously limits medical management of patients with chronic liver disease. Since extracellular vesicles (EVs) function as conduits for intercellular molecular transfer, we investigated if EVs from ...

Correlation Between the Severity of Liver Cirrhosis (Chil-Pugh Score) and QTc Interval Prolongation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Background:Liver cirrhosis causes changes in cardiovascular system. Electrographic (ECG) abnormality commonly found in cirrhosis patients is QT interval prolongation. It is part of cirrhotic cardiomyopathy.
