Piecemeal necrosis of the liver revisited a review

open access: yesExperimental and Molecular Pathology, 2014
Piecemeal necrosis of the liver is thought to lead to liver cell necrosis. However the process does not lead to necrosis but rather lead to gradual progressive piecemeal removal of liver cell cytoplasm by T lymphocytes which are sensitized to antigens presented on the liver cell surface to form the immunologic synapse.

Clinical Relevance of Transjugular Liver Biopsy in Comparison with Percutaneous and Laparoscopic Liver Biopsy

open access: yesGastroenterology Research and Practice, 2009
Background. Transjugular liver biopsy (TJLB) is frequently used to obtain liver specimens in high-risk patients. However, TJLB sample size possibly limits their clinical relevance. Methods. 102 patients that underwent TJLB were included.

BDL causes liver cell injury and theonellasterol attenuates liver necrosis.

open access: yes, 2012
(A and B) Liver necrosis was robustly attenuated by theonellasterol as confirmed by assessment of ALT and histopathology analysis. Data are the mean ± S.E.
