Localized Surface Plasmon Resonance Biosensors
Nanomedicine, 2006In this review, the most recent progress in the development of noble metal nano-optical sensors based on localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) spectroscopy is summarized. The sensing principle relies on the LSPR spectral shifts caused by the surrounding dielectric environmental change in a binding event.

Local plasmon resonance at metal wedge
Journal of the Optical Society of America A, 2008A local plasmon resonance on a metal wedge is studied by using the Meixner approach [J. Meixner, IEEE Trans. Antennas Propag.AP-20, 442 (1972)]. It is found that the singular field behavior of a local plasmon resonance as a function of the distance from the edge of the wedge is sensitive to the wavelength and wedge angle, and ranges from a dramatic ...

Locally focused magnetic resonance imaging
Proceedings of 1st International Conference on Image Processing, 2002Conventional magnetic resonance (MR) images are reconstructed by Fourier transformation and have uniform spatial resolution across the entire field of view (FOV). The present paper describes a way of creating MR images which have higher spatial resolution in some areas than in others.

Stochastic resonance in locally optimal detectors
IEEE Transactions on Signal Processing, 2003The aim of the paper is to show that the nonlinear effect known as stochastic resonance, which corresponds to the improvement of the processing of information by noise, occurs naturally in some detection problems. We illustrate this by studying the problem of detecting a small amplitude sinusoid in non-Gaussian noise.

Silicon cavity resonator based on locally resonant phononic crystal
2016 IEEE SENSORS, 2016In this paper, a silicon cavity-mode resonator based on locally resonant phononic crystal (PnC) is experimentally studied. The PnC resonator is realized by creating line defects on a two-dimension (2-D) silicon PnC. The silicon resonator was fabricated by micro machining process, and tested by a combination of the fluid coupling method and Laser ...

Localized Surface Plasmon Resonance Spectroscopy near Molecular Resonances
Journal of the American Chemical Society, 2006The peak location of the localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) of noble metal nanoparticles is highly dependent upon the refractive index of the nanoparticles' surrounding environment. In this study, new phenomena are revealed by exploring the influence of interacting molecular resonances and nanoparticle resonances.

Local Ferromagnetic Resonance Imaging with Magnetic Resonance Force Microscopy
Physical Review Letters, 2008We report nanoscale scanned probe ferromagnetic resonance force microscopy (FMRFM) imaging of individual ferromagnetic microstructures. This reveals the mechanism for high spatial resolution in FMRFM imaging: the strongly inhomogeneous local magnetic field of the cantilever mounted micromagnetic probe magnet used in FMRFM enables selective, local ...

Electrochemistry on a Localized Surface Plasmon Resonance Sensor
Langmuir, 2009The optical signal of a localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR)-based sensor combined with electrochemistry was investigated. Gold nanoparticles were immobilized on an indium tin oxide (ITO) substrate, which functioned as working electrode. Using cyclic voltammetry synchronized with LSPR sensing, surface reactions on gold were detected both ...

The role of skull resonance on localization
Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2016The skull is a dense resonant body that may filter sounds affecting many auditory tasks. Its possible influence has been minimally investigated with localization—a paradigm directly addressed in the current study. Unique spectral information was extracted from the skull recordings of 27 participants.

Resonant-enhanced localized surface plasmon resonance spectroscopy
SPIE Proceedings, 2006The extinction maximum of the localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) of noble metal nanoparticles is highly dependent upon the refractive index of the nanoparticles' surrounding environment. In this study, the effect that molecular resonances have on the intensity, LSPR peak width, and LSPR shift of the LSPR of Ag nanoparticles is monitored ...
