Localization of Resonant Spherical Waves

Strength of Materials, 2002
This paper treats radial spherical resonant waves excited in the transresonant regime. An approximate general solution of a perturbed-wave equation is presented here, which takes into account nonlinear, spatial, and dissipative effects. Then the boundary problem reduces to the perturbed compound Burgers–Korteweg–de Vries equation (BKdV) in time ...

Local Resonant Structures

2017
The local resonance in the material was discovered in 2000. Since then, it has been developed as an acoustical metamaterial. The local resonance enables negative mass density and negative bulk modulus. A detailed description of the physics of local resonance is given. This is followed by several applications and even a list of potential areas under the

Locally resonant sonic materials

Physica B: Condensed Matter, 2003
Abstract We have fabricated a new type of composite which displays localized sonic resonances at ∼350– 2000 Hz with a microstructure size in the millimeter to centimeter range. Around the resonance frequencies the composite behaves as a material with effective negative elastic constants and as a total wave reflector—a 2 cm slab of ...

Resonance tunneling and localization spectroscopy

Solid State Communications, 1983
Abstract Resonance tunneling through localized eigenstates is proven to allow for the localization spectroscopy. Evaluated characteristics of the resonance oscillations are in agreement with experiments.

Localized Surface Plasmon Resonances

2017
Surface plasmon polaritons are propagating energy waves at a plane metallic–dielectric interface. Metallic nanoparticles supply an effective restoring force to drive electrons in an oscillating electromagnetic field. A specific resonance condition leads to a field amplification localized in the near zone inside and outside the particle.

Acoustic localization and resonant scattering

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1988
The properties of the renormalized speed of sound and of the scattering and transport mean-free paths in two- and three-dimensional media containing random distributions of identical, finite-size scattering centers are analyzed. In particular, the connections between the frequency dependence of these parameters and the structure of the exact single ...

Localized Resonances of Composite Particles

The Journal of Physical Chemistry C, 2009
Composite particles (CPs) formed by a homogeneous distribution of much smaller constituent metal nanoparticles (MNPs) in a host dielectric can be designed to exhibit two physically different types of resonances: (1) remarkably sharp localized surface plasmon resonances (LSPRs) and (2) equally narrow and strong localized dielectric resonances (LDRs ...
