Sensitivity analysis of EUROSEM using Monte Carlo simulation II: : the effect of rills and rock fragments [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
A sensitivity analysis of the surface and catchment characteristics in the European soil erosion model (EUROSEM) was carried out with special emphasis on rills and rock fragment cover.

Three phosphatase families form a community: The phosphohydrolases that act upon inositol pyrophosphates

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Inositol pyrophosphates are energy‐rich signaling molecules that perform critical functions in cells. Three different families of phosphatases hydrolyze the β phosphate of the inositol pyrophosphate molecules: two have narrow specificities and one is promiscuous.

Combined Factors Influencing the Severity of Elderly-Pedestrian Crashes in Local Areas of Korea Using Classification and Regression Trees and Sensitivity Analysis

open access: yesStandards
This study investigated injury severity in 18,528 police-reported vehicle-to-pedestrian crashes involving elderly pedestrians in legally classified local areas of South Korea during 2012–2021. Injury severity was coded into four ordered categories: fatal,

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

Sensitivity Analysis of an ENteric Immunity SImulator (ENISI)-Based Model of Immune Responses to Helicobacter pylori Infection. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2015
Agent-based models (ABM) are widely used to study immune systems, providing a procedural and interactive view of the underlying system. The interaction of components and the behavior of individual objects is described procedurally as a function of the ...

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Stability and sensitivity analysis of stochastic programs with second order dominance constraints [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
In this paper we present stability and sensitivity analysis of a stochastic optimization problem with stochastic second order dominance constraints. We consider perturbation of the underlying probability measure in the space of regular measures equipped ...

Subtype‐specific enhancer RNAs define transcriptional regulators and prognosis in breast cancers

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study employed machine learning methodologies to perform the subtype‐specific classification of RNA‐seq data sets, which are mapped on enhancers from TCGA‐derived breast cancer patients. Their integration with gene expression (referred to as ProxCReAM eRNAs) and chromatin accessibility profiles has the potential to identify lineage‐specific and ...

Local and global sensitivity analysis of key durability parameters of concrete under chloride environment

open access: yesResults in Engineering
This study investigates the local and global sensitivity of five critical durability parameters affecting concrete performance in chloride environments: concrete cover thickness (d), apparent chloride diffusion coefficient (Dₐₚₚ), surface chloride ...

Sensitivity Analysis of Axial Compressive Bearing Capacity of CFRP Concrete-filled Steel Tube

open access: yesRenmin Zhujiang, 2021
The axial compressive bearing capacity of CFRP concrete-filled steel tube is related to many factors.Due to material manufacturing and use, these parameters are not a definite value.Based on this, this paper carries out the sensitivity analysis of axial ...
