The positivity of local equivariant Hirzebruch class for toric varieties

open access: yes, 2021
The central object of investigation of this paper is the Hirzebruch class, a deformation of the Todd class, given by Hirzebruch (for smooth varieties). The generalization for singular varieties is due to Brasselet–Schürmann–Yokura.

A Proposed Saffron Soilless Cultivation System for a Quality Spice as Certified by Genetic Traceability

open access: yesPlants
Saffron (Crocus sativus L.) is one of the most expensive spices in the world due to its strong market demand combined with its labor-intensive production process, which needs a lot of labor and has significant costs.

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

Genetic Relationships and Molecular Signatures of Divergence in Traditional Landraces and Morphotypes of Brassica oleracea

open access: yesPlants
Brassica oleracea is a complex species incorporating a great variety of vegetable types, including cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli, kale, and others. Southern Italy, and especially the Puglia region, is rich in B. oleracea landraces.

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

Identification of genetically plastic forms among Belarusian ancient flax (Linum usitatissimum convar. elongatum Vav. et Ell.) varieties using the Linum Insertion Sequence LIS-1

open access: yesGenetic Resources
The Linum Insertion Sequence 1 (LIS-1) occurs in the genetically plastic flax genotypes in response to the lack or excess of mineral and water nutrition, but also naturally, and can be transmitted to the progeny.

Localizations of varieties and quasivarieties

open access: yesJournal of Pure and Applied Algebra, 2000
It is well known that varieties (= monadic categories over sets) are nothing but exact categories having a regular projective regular generator with copowers. It is also well known that quasivarieties (= regular epireflective full subcategories of varieties) are nothing but regular categories having coequalizers of equivalence relations and a regular ...

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

AGRONOMIC TRAITS OF LOCAL WETLAND RICE VARIETIES IN JAMBI PROVINCE

open access: yes, 2021
Indonesia’s swamplands are among the areas earmarked for future agricultural development. As a type of wetland, swamplands are periodically inundated and have soil properties that are uniquely different from other agroecosystems.
