Parathyroid localization [PDF]

open access: yesThe Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism, 1986
Twenty-nine consecutive patients with suspected primary hyperparathyroidism were examined preoperatively using ultrasound, sonographically guided fine needle aspiration, and aspirate immunostaining for PTH.

LOCALLY LOCALIZED GRAVITY [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Modern Physics A, 2001
We study the fluctuation spectrum of linearized gravity around non-fine-tuned branes. We focus on the case of an AdS 4 brane in AdS 5. In this case, for small cosmological constant, the warp factor near the brane is essentially that of a Minkowski brane. However, far from the brane, the metric differs substantially.

Local perturbations perturb—exponentially–locally [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Mathematical Physics, 2015
We elaborate on the principle that for gapped quantum spin systems with local interaction, “local perturbations [in the Hamiltonian] perturb locally [the groundstate].” This principle was established by Bachmann et al. [Commun. Math. Phys. 309, 835–871 (2012)], relying on the “spectral flow technique” or “quasi-adiabatic continuation” [M. B.

WoLF PSORT: protein localization predictor

open access: yesNucleic Acids Res., 2007
WoLF PSORT is an extension of the PSORT II program for protein subcellular location prediction. WoLF PSORT converts protein amino acid sequences into numerical localization features; based on sorting signals, amino acid composition and functional motifs ...

TALL: Temporal Activity Localization via Language Query [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE International Conference on Computer Vision, 2017
This paper focuses on temporal localization of actions in untrimmed videos. Existing methods typically train classifiers for a pre-defined list of actions and apply them in a sliding window fashion.

Local Hyperhidrosis

open access: yesDermatology, 1980
A case of local hyperhidrosis at the ulnar aspect of the left forearm-carpal region with exacerbation, especially during summer, is presented. The sweat function is normal on the remainder of the body. This case is rare, and few similar cases are known in the literature. The possible pathogenetic mechanisms are discussed.

Energy Localization through Locally Resonant Materials [PDF]

open access: yesMaterials, 2020
Among the attractive properties of metamaterials, the capability of focusing and localizing waves has recently attracted research interest to establish novel energy harvester configurations. In the same frame, in this work, we develop and optimize a system for concentrating mechanical energy carried by elastic anti-plane waves. The system, resembling a

Span-based Localizing Network for Natural Language Video Localization [PDF]

open access: yesAnnual Meeting of the Association for Computational Linguistics, 2020
Given an untrimmed video and a text query, natural language video localization (NLVL) is to locate a matching span from the video that semantically corresponds to the query.

The influence of movement on the localization precision of sub-resolution particles in fluorescence microscopy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Obtaining sub-resolution particle positions in fluorescence microscopy images is essential for single particle tracking and high-resolution localization microscopy.

Locality and Non locality

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Applied Physics, 2020
Aim: Whether, under all the circumstances considered, a relativistic concept of locality and non-locality may fully reproduce the quantum probabilities for outcomes of experiments, is re-investigated.Methods: The usual methods and rules of statistics, probability theory and quantum mechanics were used.
