LOCALLY LOCALIZED GRAVITY [PDF]
We study the fluctuation spectrum of linearized gravity around non-fine-tuned branes. We focus on the case of an AdS 4 brane in AdS 5. In this case, for small cosmological constant, the warp factor near the brane is essentially that of a Minkowski brane. However, far from the brane, the metric differs substantially.

Background: Despite the exceptional burden of burns in low- and middle-income countries (LMIC) and the importance of adequate analgesia in burn care, there is a lack of analgesia protocol developed in resource-scarce settings.

Exploration and practice of key equipment localization in oil and gaspipelines
The key equipment of oil and gas pipelines is the important treasure of a country because they are related to national energy security. For many years, the key equipment has been imported, which become a bottleneck restricting the high-quality ...

Local perturbations perturb—exponentially–locally [PDF]
We elaborate on the principle that for gapped quantum spin systems with local interaction, “local perturbations [in the Hamiltonian] perturb locally [the groundstate].” This principle was established by Bachmann et al. [Commun. Math. Phys. 309, 835–871 (2012)], relying on the “spectral flow technique” or “quasi-adiabatic continuation” [M. B.

Parathyroid Localization [PDF]
Twenty-nine consecutive patients with suspected primary hyperparathyroidism were examined preoperatively using ultrasound, sonographically guided fine needle aspiration, and aspirate immunostaining for PTH. In 25 patients, localization of enlarged parathyroid glands was successful.

OSM-SLAM: Aiding SLAM with OpenStreetMaps priors
In the last decades, Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM) proved to be a fundamental topic in the field of robotics, due to the many applications, ranging from autonomous driving to 3D reconstruction. Many systems have been proposed in literature

The BioID approaches takes advantage of the promiscuous biotinylation enzyme (BirA*) to identify proteins that closely interact. Here the authors improve the resolution of BioID using a protein fragment complementation approach that allows the assignment

Territories of Contributory Learning
Places are just as crucial as organisations in the fabric of social life: despite all the homogenising tendencies, the social space, sculpted by the stories that constitute it, continues to prove multiform and rich in diversity.
