Lack of evidence for an effect of joint line obliquity after medial opening wedge high tibial osteotomy: A 12‐year single‐centre retrospective study

open access: yesJournal of Experimental Orthopaedics
Purpose Large correction in opening wedge high tibial osteotomy (HTO) may lead to excessive joint line obliquity (JLO). This study hypothesized that the presence of an oblique joint line, defined by knee joint line obliquity (KJLO) > 5° and/or medial ...

Ultrasound-Guided Percutaneous Fasciotomies for Patients With Chronic Exertional Compartment Syndrome

open access: yesArthroscopy Techniques
Chronic exertional compartment syndrome is a well-described potential cause of leg pain in high-level athletes and soldiers. Surgical treatment of chronic exertional compartment syndrome usually involves fasciotomy, with a reported rate of complications ...

Targeting transcription factors associated with hemoglobinopathies: Lessons from successful interventions and implications for cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review summarizes the transcription factors, repressive chromatin‐modifying complexes, and epigenetic mechanisms that control fetal hemoglobin repression. Notably, many regulators of γ‐globin silencing also function in transcriptional and epigenetic networks that drive cancer, highlighting opportunities to translate advances in hemoglobinopathy ...

Locomotion behaviour.

open access: yes, 2004
By far the most characteristic traits of nematodes are their extremely narrow streamlined body and undulatory style of locomotion, useful in their common burrowing habit. These traits have enabled them to be successful in an amazingly wide range of free-living and parasitic environments that is without parallel in other meiofauna.

Proteasomal degradation of intracellularly expressed Amblyomin‐X limits suicide gene therapy potential in melanoma cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This study explores the feasibility of expressing the antitumoral protein Amblyomin‐X through a suicide gene therapy approach and investigates its intracellular fate after gene delivery. Although the gene is efficiently expressed, melanoma cells rapidly degrade the Amblyomin‐X protein via proteasome activity.

Locomotion of Snake-like Robots Using Adaptive Neural Oscillators [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
This paper proposes a CPG-based control architecture using a frequency-adaptive oscillator for undulatory locomotion of snake-like robots. The control architecture consists of a network of neural oscillators that generates desired oscillatory output ...

An Overview and Analysis of Publications on Locomotion Taxonomies [PDF]

open access: yes, 2021
S.385-388In immersive virtual environments, locomotion allows users to change their viewpoint in the virtual world and is one of the most common tasks. Locomotion taxonomies can describe relationships between the locomotion techniques and thus represent ...
