Programmable Klebsiella pneumoniae Phage Tropism Enabled by Scalable Receptor‐Binding Protein Mining and Modular Assembly

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This work introduces a scalable, data‐driven strategy that turns the vast sequence diversity of phage receptor‐binding proteins into modular tools for engineering customizable phages. By clustering and experimentally validating diverse RBPs, the authors build an accurate map linking sequence to host specificity and create plug‐and‐play modules that ...

THE LOGARITHMIC SPIRAL AND ITS SPHERICAL COUNTERPART

open access: yesJournal of Industrial Design and Engineering Graphics, 2019
Logarithmic spirals are isogonal trajectories of pencils of lines. From a series of geometric consequences, we pick out a few which are relevant for kinematics: When a logarithmic spiral rolls on a line, its asymptotic point traces a straight line. Hence,

Spiral flows in cool-core galaxy clusters

open access: yes, 2012
We argue that bulk spiral flows are ubiquitous in the cool cores (CCs) of clusters and groups of galaxies. Such flows are gauged by spiral features in the thermal and chemical properties of the intracluster medium, by the multi-phase properties of CCs ...

Metabolic Regulation of Dimethylsulfoniopropionate Cleavage and Dimethyl Sulfide Production in Halomonas sp. D47

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Dimethylsulfoniopropionate (DMSP) is a major marine organosulfur compound central to climate‐relevant dimethyl sulfide (DMS) production. In Halomonas sp. D47, DMSP catabolism is revealed to be coordinated by two transcriptional regulators, AcuR and AcuZ, which control gene expression by sensing DMSP and its metabolites.

Stability of generalized Newton difference equations

open access: yesAnalele Stiintifice ale Universitatii Ovidius Constanta: Seria Matematica, 2012
In the paper we discuss a stability in the sense of the generalized Hyers-Ulam-Rassias for functional equations Δn(p, c)φ(x) = h(x), which is called generalized Newton difference equations, and give a sufficient condition of the generalized Hyers-Ulam ...

Entropic Limit Analysis Applied to Radial Cavity Expansion Problems

open access: yesFrontiers in Materials, 2018
Analytical solutions of limit analysis design for the simple problem of plane strain expansion of a cylindrical cavity are derived and generalized into entropic extremum principles that allow a fundamental assessment of coupled thermal/hydro/mechanical ...

Lipid‐Facilitated Opening of the ADAM10 Sheddase Revealed by Enhanced Sampling Simulations

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Phosphatidylserine acts as a lipid trigger to enhance activation of the sheddase ADAM10. By integrating fluorescence spectroscopy assays with enhanced sampling molecular dynamics simulations, this study shows that phosphatidylserine promotes ADAM10 catalytic activity along with expansion of its extracellular domains, enhancing accessibility to scaffold
