Dispersion-managed high-capacity ultra-long-haul transmission
Journal of Lightwave Technology, 2003The recent progress of dispersion-managed transmission technologies for ultra-long-haul wavelength-division-multiplexing (WDM) systems is reviewed. First, we discuss the dispersion-management technologies for 10 Gb/s-based WDM systems. Next, dispersion-managed technologies for higher bit rate applications are reviewed, including dispersion-managed ...

Ultra-Long-Haul MCF Transmission Systems
39th European Conference and Exhibition on Optical Communication (ECOC 2013), 2013The multicore fiber (MCF) transmission technology is a promising candidate for next generation optical fiber communication system. In this paper, we review the feasibility of the MCF transmission repeatered by multicore EDFA for ultra-long-haul transmission.

Optical MSK long-haul transmission systems
SPIE Proceedings, 2006ABSTRACT The generation and detection of linear, weakly non-linear and strongly non-linearly optical MSK long-haul transmission systems have been reported. The simulation test-beds based on Matlab Simulink platform have been successfully developed. The following significant results have been achieved: (i) BER of 10 -38 is achieved for an OSNR of 22.2dB;

Ultra‐Long‐Haul WDM transmission systems
BT Technology Journal, 2002This paper discusses the key transmission issues and design considerations for ultra-long-haul WDM systems. The key enabling technologies for the current generation of ultra-long-haul WDM transmission are described. Noise analysis and transmission modelling results are presented, and an overview of the developing transmission technology is also given.

Long-haul Transmission Using Multicore Fibers
Optical Fiber Communication Conference, 2014We review recent progress of long-haul transmission over 6,000 km using multicore fiber (MCF) repeatered with multicore (MC)-EDFA. The capacity-distance product has been increased from 177 Pbit/s·km to 1.03 Ebit/s·km.

Spatial multiplexing for long-haul transmission
IEEE Photonics Conference 2012, 2012Spatial multiplexing has the potential to overcome the capacity-bottleneck of single-fiber long-haul links. We review recent experimental progress and discuss relevant performance vs. complexity trade-offs from a systems perspective.

WDM long haul transmission systems
OFC '98. Optical Fiber Communication Conference and Exhibit. Technical Digest. Conference Edition. 1998 OSA Technical Digest Series Vol.2 (IEEE Cat. No.98CH36177), 1998Summary form only given. Wavelength-division multiplexing techniques in combination with erbium-doped fiber-amplifers will allow for the second "order-of-magnitude" capacity increase for long-haul transmission systems within the past few years. This tutorial will review important issues regarding the use of WDM in long-haul lightwave systems.

Monomode fibres for long haul transmission systems
BT Technology Journal, 1983Today, monomode fibres seem set to replace graded-index fibre in new high-capacity trunk and undersea system installations. This paper reviews the background to that development and looks forward to the remaining untapped potential that is only now being uncovered.

Review on optical solitons for long haul transmission
Journal of Optical Communications, 2023Abstract Fiber optics telecommunication is the currently established backbone infrastructure for most of the information flow across the world. New services and applications are causing an exponential increase in Internet traffic, increasing transmission rate, and high bandwidth-demanding applications have been propelling the data rate ...

Long-haul WDM transmission systems
Symposium on Electro-Optics: Present and Future, 1998Wavelength division multiplexing techniques in combination with Erbium-Doped Fiber-Amplifiers will allow for the second “order-of-magnitude” capacity increase for long-haul transmission systems within the past few years. The transmission of many WDM channels over long distances can be limited by a variety of phenomena, including the finite bandwidth of
