Gravitational Interaction in a Null String Gas and Its Possible Consequences

open access: yesUniverse, 2020
In this paper, we investigated the possible consequences of gravitational interaction in a gas of null strings. The structural elements of this gas are closed null strings in the form of a circle (thin closed tubes of massless scalar field).

Effective Field Theory for Long Strings [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of Xth Quark Confinement and the Hadron Spectrum — PoS(Confinement X), 2013
In previous work we used magnetic SU(N) gauge theory with adjoint representation Higgs scalars to describe the long distance quark-antiquark interaction in pure Yang-Mills theory, and later to obtain an effective string theory. The empirically determined parameters of the non-Abelian effective theory yielded $Z_N$ flux tubes resembling those of the ...

A defect in AdS3/CFT2 duality

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2022
AdS3 string theory in the stringy regime k = (R AdS /ℓ s )2 < 1 provides a laboratory for the study of holography in which both sides of AdS/CFT duality are under fairly good control.

Free fermion cyclic/symmetric orbifold CFTs and entanglement entropy

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2022
In this paper we study the properties of two-dimensional CFTs defined by cyclic and symmetric orbifolds of free Dirac fermions, especially by focusing on the partition function and entanglement entropy.

Long-term dynamics of cosmological axion strings [PDF]

open access: yesProgress of Theoretical and Experimental Physics, 2018
We present results of new field-theoretic simulation of cosmological axion strings, which are eight times longer than previous ones. We have upgraded our simulation of physical strings in Hiramatsu et al. (2011) in terms of the number of grids as well as the suite of analysis methods.

Duality and combinatorics of long strings in [PDF]

open access: yesNuclear Physics B, 2000
Abstract The counting of long strings in ADS 3 , in the context of type IIB string theory on ADS 3 ×S 3 ×T 4 , is used to exhibit the action of the duality group O(5,5;Z) , and in particular its Weyl subgroup S 5 ⋈Z 2 , in the non-perturbative phenomena associated with continuous spectra of ...

Stochastic gravitational waves from long cosmic strings

open access: yesJournal of Cosmology and Astroparticle Physics, 2022
Abstract We compute the expected strain power spectrum and energy density parameter of the stochastic gravitational wave background (SGWB) created by a network of long cosmic strings evolving during the whole cosmic history. As opposed to other studies, the contribution of cosmic string loops is discarded and our result provides ...

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

The neural crest‐associated gene ERRFI1 is involved in melanoma progression and resistance toward targeted therapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
ERRFI1, a neural crest (NC)‐associated gene, was upregulated in melanoma and negatively correlated with the expression of melanocytic differentiation markers and the susceptibility of melanoma cells toward BRAF inhibitors (BRAFi). Knocking down ERRFI1 significantly increased the sensitivity of melanoma cells to BRAFi.

The action of long strings in supersymmetric field theories

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2019
Long strings emerge in many Quantum Field Theories, for example as vortices in Abelian Higgs theories, or flux tubes in Yang-Mills theories. The actions of such objects can be expanded in the number of derivatives, around a long straight string solution.
