Longitudinal data clustering methods: A Systematic Review

open access: yesJournal of Biostatistics and Epidemiology, 2023
In the last few decades, in many research fields, different methods were introduced to discover groups with the same trends in longitudinal data. The clustering process is an unsupervised learning method, which classifies longitudinal data based on ...

Multilevel Models for Longitudinal Data [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the Royal Statistical Society Series A: Statistics in Society, 2007
SummaryRepeated measures and repeated events data have a hierarchical structure which can be analysed by using multilevel models. A growth curve model is an example of a multilevel random-coefficients model, whereas a discrete time event history model for recurrent events can be fitted as a multilevel logistic regression model.

Association of high‐dose radioactive iodine therapy with PPM1D‐mutated clonal hematopoiesis in older individuals

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In thyroid cancer patients, high‐dose (≥7.4 GBq) radioactive iodine therapy (RAIT) was associated with a higher prevalence of clonal hematopoiesis (variant allele frequency >2%) in individuals aged ≥50 years (OR = 2.44). In silico analyses showed that truncating PPM1D mutations conferred a selective advantage under these conditions.

Using natural language processing to facilitate the harmonisation of mental health questionnaires: a validation study using real-world data

open access: yesBMC Psychiatry
Background Pooling data from different sources will advance mental health research by providing larger sample sizes and allowing cross-study comparisons; however, the heterogeneity in how variables are measured across studies poses a challenge to this ...

Growth dynamics of Indian infants using latent trajectory models in pooled survey datasets

open access: yesFrontiers in Public Health
BackgroundNational survey data show that age- and sex-standardized weight and length measurements decline early in Indian children. In population-level longitudinal data, early detection of growth trajectories is important for the implementation of ...

Decrypting cancer's spatial code: from single cells to tissue niches

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Spatial transcriptomics maps gene activity across tissues, offering powerful insights into how cancer cells are organised, switch states and interact with their surroundings. This review outlines emerging computational, artificial intelligence (AI) and geospatial approaches to define cell states, uncover tumour niches and integrate spatial data with ...

The Need for Household Panel Surveys in Times of Crisis: The Case of SOEP-CoV

open access: yesSurvey Research Methods, 2020
The spread of the novel coronavirus, SARS-CoV-2, poses major challenges for individuals and societies at large. The question now is how individuals and society are dealing with these challenges, and what health, psychological, social, and economic

Characterizing the salivary RNA landscape to identify potential diagnostic, prognostic, and follow‐up biomarkers for breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study explores salivary RNA for breast cancer (BC) diagnosis, prognosis, and follow‐up. High‐throughput RNA sequencing identified distinct salivary RNA signatures, including novel transcripts, that differentiate BC from healthy controls, characterize histological and molecular subtypes, and indicate lymph node involvement.

The relationship between fundamental motor skills and physical fitness in preschoolers: a short-term longitudinal study

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychology, 2023
PurposePhysical fitness and fundamental motor skills are two important aspects for the healthy development of preschoolers. Despite the growing interest in clarifying their relationship, the scarcity of longitudinal studies prevents us from understanding
