Longitudinal acoustic mode in polymers

Journal of Applied Physics, 1976
The theory of the longitudinal vibrations of a composite ’’crystalline-amorphous’’ elastic rod with perturbing forces at the ends has been developed. The longitudinal-acoustic-mode fundamental frequencies are tabulated as a function of the relative elastic moduli, relative densities, and relative composition of the components, as well as of the ...

Two-longitudinal-mode laser diodes

IEEE Photonics Technology Letters, 1995
Two-longitudinal-mode distributed-Bragg-reflector laser diodes have been fabricated for wavelength-division-multiplexing communication systems, two-wavelength optical measurement systems, and optical data processing systems. A Bragg reflector with a periodic-phase-shift grating is adopted for two-longitudinal-mode operation.

Longitudinal electron modes in plasma

Journal of Plasma Physics, 1980
Propagation of longitudinal electron modes in Maxwellian plasma is discussed using both the Vlasov equation and the 13-moment equations. Both methods are shown to be consistent and in addition both methods are shown to predict a second (heavily damped) mode which propagates below as well as above the plasma frequency.

Longitudinal acoustic modes in cycloalkanes

Polymer Bulletin, 1981
The longitudinal acoustic modes (LAM) of several cycloalkanes ((CH2)14 to (CH2)96) measured by Raman spectroscopy are described. The frequency differences between the LAMs of the cycloalkanes and the corresponding n-alkanes are explained by a simple linear chain model.

Longitudinal mode control in few-mode erbium-doped fiber lasers

Optics Letters, 1996
We report an approach to the control of the longitudinal mode structure in erbium-doped fiber lasers that uses saturable absorbers and the spatial hole-burning effect in the laser cavity. Two- and three-mode fiber lasers are successfully demonstrated, and the laser output properties are compared with theoretical calculations.

Single-longitudinal-mode broadband tunable random laser

Optics Letters, 2017
In this work, we demonstrate a broadband tunable single-longitudinal-mode (SLM) random laser based on Rayleigh backscattering in a standard single-mode fiber. The wide tuning range of this SLM fiber laser over 1500-1570 nm is demonstrated with a linewidth of 4.5-30 kHz.

Longitudinal modes in classical Yang-Mills plasma

Physical Review D, 1989
A classical nonperturbative study of the longitudinal modes in a Yang-Mills [SU(2)] plasma is carried out. A new periodic non-Abelian mode is found which alternates with the usual Abelian plasma mode. When the non-Abelian terms in the equations become large, chaotic behavior sets in.

Longitudinal modes in quasi-one-dimensional antiferromagnets

Physical Review B, 1992
Neutron-scattering data on ${\mathrm{CsNiCl}}_{3}$, a quasi-one-dimensional spin-one antiferromagnet, exhibit an anomalous mode. It was later proposed, based on a Landau-Ginsburg model, that this should be viewed as a longitudinal fluctuation of the sublattice magnetization.

Three‐mode models for multivariate longitudinal data

British Journal of Mathematical and Statistical Psychology, 2001
Multivariate longitudinal data are characterized by three modes: variables, occasions and subjects. Three‐mode models are described as special cases of a linear latent variable model. The assumption of measurement invariance across occasions yields three‐mode models that are suited for the analysis of multivariate longitudinal data.

Single-longitudinal-mode ring diamond Raman laser

2017 Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics Europe & European Quantum Electronics Conference (CLEO/Europe-EQEC), 2017
We demonstrate a single-longitudinal-mode ring diamond Raman laser, pumped by a tunable single-mode Ti:sapphire laser. Two methods to achieving unidirectional operation have been demonstrated: increasing gain for one direction using a reinjecting mirror and increasing loss for one direction using sum frequency mixing in BBO.
