In this study, H∞ loop shaping is designed for single‐phase pulse width modulation (PWM) rectifier under current sensor gain faults. Pre‐compensator is used to obtain the desired loop shape at all frequencies and robust stabilization through the ...

We analyze the shapes of cosmic string loops found in large-scale simulations of an expanding-universe string network. The simulation does not include gravitational back reaction, but we model that process by smoothing the loop using Lorentzian convolution. We find that loops at formation consist of generally straight segments separated by kinks. We do

Robust control of ill-conditioned plants: high-purity distillation [PDF]
Using a high-purity distillation column as an example, the physical reason for the poor conditioning and its implications on control system design and performance are explained.

Measuring Shape-Dependent Looping Probability of DNA [PDF]
Recently, several studies have shown that short doubled-stranded DNA (dsDNA) loops more readily than the wormlike chain model predicts. In most of these experiments, the intrinsic bendedness of dsDNA, which in theory can dramatically influence looping dynamics, was either avoided or unaccounted for.

The Spatial Structure of Stimuli Shapes the Timescale of Correlations in Population Spiking Activity [PDF]
Throughout the central nervous system, the timescale over which pairs of neural spike trains are correlated is shaped by stimulus structure and behavioral context.

Optimization aided Loop Shaping for Motion Systems [PDF]
An approach is proposed which improves the quality and speed of manual loop shaping. Loop shaping is an iterative and creative controller design procedure where the control engineer uses frequency response function (FRF) data of the plant to shape the open loop response such that it satisfies stability, performance and robustness specifications.

SNDR sensitivity analysis for cascaded ΣΔ modulators [PDF]
Cascade, single and multi-bit, ΣΔ architectures provide stable, high order quantization noise shaping used in high resolution A/D conversion. One major disadvantage of cascaded ΣΔ topologies is the extreme SNDR sensitivity to gain mismatch between the ...

loop-shaping control of azimuthal combustion instabilities in annular combustors
Lean combustion technique and annular geometries are preferred in aero-engines and gas turbines, which however may lead to azimuthal combustion instabilities. Active control can be used to stabilize combustion instabilities.
