The Dynamics of miR-449a/c Expression during Uterine Cycles Are Associated with Endometrial Development

open access: yesBiology, 2022
The human endometrium is a highly dynamic tissue. Increasing evidence has shown that microRNAs (miRs) play essential roles in human endometrium development.

Analysis of Loop Function of Dihydrofolate Reductase

open access: yesSeibutsu Butsuri, 2004
To elucidate the role of flexible loops in the stability and function of Escherichia coli dihydrofolate reductase (DHFR), glycine-67, glycine-121, and alanine-145 in the three different loops were substituted with several amino acids by site-directed mutagenesis.

Mixed-Delay-Dependent Augmented Functional for Synchronization of Uncertain Neutral-Type Neural Networks with Sampled-Data Control

open access: yesMathematics, 2023
In this paper, the synchronization problem of uncertain neutral-type neural networks (NTNNs) with sampled-data control is investigated. First, a mixed-delay-dependent augmented Lyapunov–Krasovskii functional (LKF) is proposed, which not only considers ...

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

Circular RNA as a Potential Biomarker for Melanoma: A Systematic Review

open access: yesFrontiers in Cell and Developmental Biology, 2021
Circular RNAs (circRNAs) are newly discovered RNAs with covalently looped structures. Due to their resistance to RNAase degradation and tissue-specific expression, circRNAs are expected to be potential biomarkers in early diagnosis and target treatment ...

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

The Functional Significance of Cardiac Looping: Comparative Embryology, Anatomy, and Physiology of the Looped Design of Vertebrate Hearts

open access: yesJournal of Cardiovascular Development and Disease
The flow path of vertebrate hearts has a looped configuration characterized by curved (sigmoid) and twisted (chiral) components. The looped heart design is phylogenetically conserved among vertebrates and is thought to represent a significant determinant

On loop functions in the theory of topological LA-semigroups

open access: yesFilomat, 2022
In theory of topological LA-semigroups, we introduce the concepts of LA-loop functions for LA-lifting functions in theory of LA-fibrations. We prove that the LA-lifting function and LA-loop function for any LA-fibration are not necessarily unique.

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...
