In thyroid cancer patients, high‐dose (≥7.4 GBq) radioactive iodine therapy (RAIT) was associated with a higher prevalence of clonal hematopoiesis (variant allele frequency >2%) in individuals aged ≥50 years (OR = 2.44). In silico analyses showed that truncating PPM1D mutations conferred a selective advantage under these conditions.

Small extracellular vesicles are a promising source of diagnostic molecules. We conducted a comprehensive study, including transcriptome profiling and RT‐qPCR validation on large cohorts of samples. Diagnostic panels enabling sensitive detection of colorectal cancer and precancerous lesions were established. Some molecules were differentially expressed

Platelet interaction with bioactive lipids formed by mild oxidation of low-density lipoprotein [PDF]
Oxidation of low-density lipoprotein (LDL) generates pro-inflammatory and pro-thrombotic mediators that play a crucial role in cardiovascular and inflammatory diseases.

The role of circular RNAs in regulating cytokine signaling in cancer
Cytokines present in the tumor microenvironment fuel cancer development. Aberrant expression of circRNAs contributes to cancer progression. Cytokines are involved in regulating circRNA biogenesis. Furthermore, aberrantly expressed circRNAs regulate the expression of ligands, receptors, and downstream effectors involved in cytokine signaling to promote ...

High density lipoprotein metabolism in low density lipoprotein receptor-deficient mice1[S]
The LDL receptor (LDLR) and scavenger receptor class B type I (SR-BI) play physiological roles in LDL and HDL metabolism in vivo. In this study, we explored HDL metabolism in LDLR-deficient mice in comparison with WT littermates.

Relationship between subclasses low-density lipoprotein and carotid plaque
Low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol can lead to the occurrence of atherosclerotic plaques, but patients with normal LDL still have atherosclerotic plaques in clinical practice.

Oxidized Low-Density Lipoprotein and Atherosclerosis [PDF]
Chance and serendipity play major roles in the history of science. Too often, though, their contributions do not show up in formal publications. We all tend to shape history according to the styles of the times and according to our own biases. Acknowledged or unacknowledged, there is a tendency to want the scientific “story” to be neat and more or less
