From platelets to particles: Optimizing extracellular vesicle isolation in a National Blood Centre
Abstract Background and Objectives Platelet‐derived extracellular vesicles (PEVs) are submicron, membrane‐bound particles released upon platelet activation, with a recognized role in haemostasis, inflammation and immunoregulation. PEVs remain insufficiently characterized in blood products.

HELP LDL apheresis reduces plasma pentraxin 3 in familial hypercholesterolemia.
BackgroundPentraxin 3 (PTX3), a key component of the humoral arm of innate immunity, is secreted by vascular cells in response to injury, possibly aiming at tuning arterial activation associated with vascular damage.

[Selective apheresis of low-density lipoproteins].
The case of rare complicated homozygous hypercholesterolemia treated by a direct adsorption of lipoprotein apheresis procedure is presented in this article. In total eight sessions of direct adsorption of lipoprotein apheresis were performed on 14-year-old patient from June 2004 to January 2005. Blood flow rate was 30-50 ml/min.

Lipoprotein-apheresis (apheresis) removes LDL-cholesterol in patients with severe dyslipidemia. However, reduction is transient, indicating that the long-term cardiovascular benefits of apheresis may not solely be due to LDL removal. Microparticles (MPs)
