On the Low Mach Number Limit for Quantum Navier--Stokes Equations [PDF]

open access: yesSIAM Journal on Mathematical Analysis, 2020
We investigate the low Mach number limit for the 3-D quantum Navier-Stokes system. For general ill-prepared initial data, we prove strong convergence of finite energy weak solutions to weak solutions of the incompressible Navier-Stokes equations. Our approach relies on a quite accurate dispersive analysis for the acoustic part, governed by the well ...

Effect of Mach Number on Stability of Boundary Layer Over a Rotating Cone in Hypersonic Flow

open access: yes气体物理
Spinning vehicles achieve gyroscopic effects by rotating around their axis. However, transition significantly influences the stability of flight. In this work, a study of instability on the unstable modes in boundary layers over a rotating cone in ...

Coupling strategies for compressible-low Mach number flows [PDF]

open access: yesMathematical Models and Methods in Applied Sciences, 2015
In order to enrich the modeling of fluid flows, we investigate in this paper a coupling between two models dedicated to distinct regimes. More precisely, we focus on the influence of the Mach number as the low Mach case is known to induce theoretical and numerical issues in a compressible framework.

From Geometry to Function: Programmable Mechanical Response in 3D‐Printed Adipose‐Inspired Soft Metamaterials

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Geometry‐driven design of soft cellular metamaterials is systematically investigated by combining experiments, finite element modeling, and statistical prediction. The study quantifies how unit cell geometry and material properties govern stiffness, instability, densification, and energy absorption.

Mechanotransduction of Magnetically Applied Forces Leads to Mechanical Stiffening of Platelet‐Rich Plugs

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
A microfluidic device with magnetic microposts was used to assess platelet mechanobiology. The oscillatory actuation of posts with embedded iron particles was dampened by the dynamic stiffening of the platelet‐rich plugs. This stiffening process increased with applied load, but inhibiting platelet activation (ASA) or myosin contractility (blebbistatin)

Radial Evolution of MHD Turbulence Anisotropy in Low Mach Number Solar Wind

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal Letters
The Parker Solar Probe (PSP) and Wind spacecraft observed the same plasma flow during PSP encounter 15. The solar wind evolves from a sub-Alfvénic flow at 0.08 au to become modestly super-Alfvénic at 1 au.

Study of a Depressurisation Process at Low Mach number in a nuclear reactor core

open access: yesESAIM: Proceedings and Surveys, 2016
This paper deals with the numerical treatment of two additional terms in the Lmnc-system modelling the coolant in a nuclear reactor core. The latter model was derived and studied by the authors in previous publications.

MESSENGER Observations of Standing Whistler Waves Upstream of Mercury's Bow Shock

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, 2023
This paper reports on the standing whistler waves upstream of Mercury's quasi‐perpendicular bow shock. Using MESSENGER's magnetometer data, 36 wave events were identified during interplanetary coronal mass ejections (ICMEs).

Fundamentals of Thermal Transport and Energy Conversion in Ultra‐High Temperature Ceramics: From Microscale Mechanisms to Macroscopic Properties

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This review critically examines thermal transport and radiative properties of ultra‐high temperature ceramics for hypersonic flight, advanced nuclear systems, and next‐generation energy conversion devices. It explores phonon–photon–electron interactions, microstructural engineering, thermoelectric conversion, and machine learning‐accelerated multiscale
