Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

The ALMA Survey of Gas Evolution of PROtoplanetary Disks (AGE-PRO). XII. Extreme Millimeter Variability Detected in a Class II Disk

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
Variability of millimeter wavelength continuum emission from Class II protoplanetary disks is extremely rare, and when detected, it is usually interpreted as originating from nonthermal emission mechanisms that relate to the host star itself rather than ...

Nucleosynthesis in low-mass stars: Shedding light on the cosmic origin of heavy elements [PDF]

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences
Low-mass, low-metallicity stars while evolving through the asymptotic giant branch (AGB) phase undergo significant nucleosynthesis producing the majority of slow (s-) and intermedite (i-) neutron capture elements.

The frequency of low-mass exoplanets [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
We report first results from the Anglo-Australian Telescope Rocky Planet Search—an intensive, high-precision Doppler planet search targeting low-mass exoplanets in contiguous 48 night observing blocks.

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

Discovery of 118 New Ultracool Dwarf Candidates Using Machine-learning Techniques

open access: yesThe Astronomical Journal
We present the discovery of 118 new ultracool dwarf candidates, discovered using a new machine-learning tool, named SMDET , applied to time-series images from the Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer.

Coexistence of internal gravity waves and Tayler-Spruit magnetic fields in the radiative cores of low-mass stars

open access: yesAstronomy & Astrophysics
Context. The Tayler-Spruit dynamo (TSD) is capable of generating a small-scale magnetic field in the differentially rotating, stably stratified layers of stars. Its activity was recently observed in numerical simulations.

Ages of evolved low mass stars: Central stars of planetary nebulae and white dwarfs

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2013
We have developed several methods to estimate the ages of central stars of planetary nebulae (CSPN), which are based either on observed nebular properties or on data from the stars themselves. Our goal is to derive the age distribution of these stars and

A HIGH-PRECISION NEAR-INFRARED SURVEY FOR RADIAL VELOCITY VARIABLE LOW-MASS STARS USING CSHELL AND A METHANE GAS CELL

open access: yes, 2016
We present the results of a precise near-infrared (NIR) radial velocity (RV) survey of 32 low-mass stars with spectral types K2-M4 using CSHELL at the NASA InfraRed Telescope Facility in the K band with an isotopologue methane gas cell to achieve ...

New periodic variable stars coincident with ROSAT sources discovered using SuperWASP [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
We present optical lightcurves of 428 periodic variable stars coincident with ROSAT X-ray sources, detected using the first run of the SuperWASP photometric survey. Only 68 of these were previously recognised as periodic variables.
