Low-cost high-temperature brazing material [PDF]

open access: yes, 1970
Commercially available nickel-copper wire containing 6 and 12 percent nickel is used in high temperature furnace brazing of rocket engine parts. Brazed joints have properties comparable to or better than those brazed with more expensive materials, and ...

Low-temperature structural transition in FeCr_2S_4

open access: yes, 2004
Transmission electron microscopy studies of [110] and [111] oriented FeCr_2S_4 single crystals at different temperatures reveal a structural transition at low temperatures indicating a cubic-to-triclinic symmetry reduction within crystallographic domains.

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Control and Stabilization of Centimeter Scale Glow Discharge in Ambient Air Using Pulse-Width Modulation

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
Re-pulsing glow discharges in atmospheric-pressure air were experimentally investigated using a push-pull generator with pulse-width modulation. Discharges were ignited as a spark-glow discharge sequence and sustained in a glow regime after ignition in a

Magnetocaloric performance of the three-component Ho1-xErxNi2 (x = 0.25, 0.5, 0.75) Laves phases as composite refrigerants

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2022
To date, significant efforts have been put into searching for materials with advanced magnetocaloric properties which show promise as refrigerants and permit realization of efficient cooling.

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

Half-quantum vortices and walls bounded by strings in the polar-distorted phases of topological superfluid 3He

open access: yesNature Communications, 2019
Symmetry-allowed topological defects, like quantized vortices, often control the universal behavior of macroscopic quantum systems. Here, Mäkinen et al.

Topologically-imposed vacancies and mobile solid 3He on carbon nanotube

open access: yesNature Communications, 2022
Probing fundamental quantum systems and their phase change is interesting. Here the authors demonstrate the existence of mobile quantum solid phase composed of dimerized 3He atoms and topology-induced vacancies using 3He adsorbed on carbon nanotube.

Low frequency acoustics in solid $^4$He at low temperature

open access: yes, 2009
The elastic properties of hcp $^4$He samples have been investigated using low frequency (20 Hz to 20 kHz) high sensitivity sound transducers. In agreement with the findings of other workers, most samples studied grew very significantly stiffer at low ...

Tension of Confining Strings at Low Temperature [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
In the low temperature confining phase of QCD or QCD-like theories it is challenging to capture the temperature dependence of observables through AdS/CFT.
