Lower bound to limiting fields in nonlinear electrodynamics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
In view of new high-precision experiments in atomic physics it seems necessary to reexamine nonlinear theories of electrodynamics. The precise calculation of electronic and muonic atomic energies has been used to determine the possible size of the upper ...

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Changing Macroeconomic Dynamics at the Zero Lower Bound

open access: yesJournal of business & economic statistics, 2018
This article develops a change-point VAR model that isolates four major macroeconomic regimes in the US since the 1960s. The model identifies shocks to demand, supply, monetary policy, and spread yield using restrictions from a general equilibrium model.

In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...

The Gilbert-Varshamov Bound for Stabilizer Codes Over $\mathbb{Z}_m$

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2018
Quantum codes over finite rings have received a great deal of attention in recent years. Compared with quantum codes over finite fields, a notable advantage of quantum codes over finite rings is that they can adapt to quantum physical systems of ...

Lower Bounds and Upper Bounds for MaxSAT [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
This paper presents several ways to compute lower and upperbounds for MaxSAT based on calling a complete SAT solver. Preliminary results indicate that (i) the bounds are of high quality, (ii) the bounds can boost the search of MaxSAT solvers on some benchmarks, and (iii) the upper bounds computed by a Stochastic Local Search procedure (SLS) can be ...

Lower Bound Beliefs and Long-Term Interest Rates

open access: yesSocial Science Research Network, 2017
We study the transmission of changes in the believed location of the lower bound to longterm interest rates since the introduction of negative interest rate policies. The expectations hypothesis of the term structure combined with a lower bound on policy

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).
