Improvement of the LPC analysis
ICASSP '83. IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech, and Signal Processing, 2005The narrowband linear predictive coder (LPC) is becoming widely used in both civilian and military applications. Yet, in spite of the many improvements made over the years, it is still not universally acceptable to general users. Therefore we present improvements to three aspects of the LPC analysis to increase the quality and intelligibility of the ...

JND's in the LPC poles of speech and their application to quantization of the LPC filter
IEEE Transactions on Signal Processing, 1991For the purpose of guiding a pole quantization scheme, a psychophysical experiment was performed to measure just-noticeable differences (JND) in the frequency and radius of the poles. The frequency JNDs, measured up to a formant frequency of 4 kHz, are quantified as distributions with means that are increasing functions of formant frequency and ...

Today, perhaps the biggest area of concern in the transmission of signals is bandwidth and its availability. Speech synthesis means the production of a speech signal by using stored speech parameters. These parameters are generated by a process known as speech analysis.

A time encoding scheme of the center frequencies of the LPC inverse filter roots is presented. The roots are represented in terms of center frequency (CF) and bandwidth (BW), and the continuity of the CF's in time is established by a dynamic programming scheme which has a cost function depending on both CFs and BWs.

An LPC vocoder for efficient implementation
ICASSP '81. IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech, and Signal Processing, 2005Linear prediction has been widely used in speech coding. However, a large amount of calculation is necessary for parameter extraction by the autocorrelation method, so it is not suited for hardware implementation. This paper proposes a new analysis method, involving iterative method in the lattice circuit for successive K parameter approximations.

Delta coding of LPC parameters
ICASSP '83. IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech, and Signal Processing, 2005This paper presents an improvement in the quality of the LPC-coded speech at low bit rates (2400 bits/second and below), achieved by reducing the "warbliness" of the steady-state portions of the speech signal. This reduction is made possible by increasing the fineness of quantization of the LPC parameters without increasing the bit rate.

A procedure is suggested for improving LPC speech quality. The central theme is to introduce a parametric model of voiced excitation - a glottal source model. In the analysis this allows for a different method than the AR-estimation used in conventional LPC. Here, a method known as AR-X-estimation is used.

Role of Lysophosphatidylcholine (LPC) in Atherosclerosis
Current Medicinal Chemistry, 2007Lysophosphatidylcholine (LPC) is a bioactive proinflammatory lipid generated by pathological activities. LPC is also a major phospholipid component of oxidized low-density lipoprotein (Ox-LDL) and is implicated as a critical factor in the atherogenic activity of Ox-LDL.

A single-processor LPC vocoder
ICASSP '84. IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech, and Signal Processing, 2005This paper presents the design of a full-duplex 2400-bit/sec vocoder which implements an LPC-10 algorithm in real time. A single commercially available digital signal processor IC, the TMS32010, is used to perform the digital processing. The TMS32010 code for this vocoder has been run on a software simulator and has been found to be within the real ...
