Cognitive control in belief-laden reasoning during conclusion processing: An ERP study [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013

Untargeted Metabolomics Identifies N‐Lactoyl‐Amino Acids as Dose‐Responsive Plasma Biomarkers of Metformin Adherence in Type 2 Diabetes

open access: yesClinical Pharmacology &Therapeutics, EarlyView.
Metformin is the most widely prescribed antidiabetic drug, yet adherence remains difficult to objectively assess. Using untargeted metabolomics and lipidomics, we analyzed plasma from 637 patients with type 2 diabetes (T2D) with confirmed metformin use and 143 nondiabetic controls, annotating 614 metabolites.

Lysophosphatidylcholine Induces NLRP3 Inflammasome-Mediated Foam Cell Formation and Pyroptosis in Human Monocytes and Endothelial Cells

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2020
Foam cells are specialized lipid-loaded macrophages derived from monocytes and are a key pathological feature of atherosclerotic lesions. Lysophosphatidylcholine (LPC) is a major lipid component of the plasma membrane with a broad spectrum of ...

Unraveling Synergistic Regulation Mechanism in Nitrogen/Sulfur Co‐Doped Biomass‐Derived Hard Carbon Toward Durable Sodium‐Ion Battery Anodes

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, EarlyView.
Nitrogen/sulfur co‐doping optimizes the electron and spatial structure of biomass‐derived hard carbon, and the anode demonstrates superior long‐term cycling stability over 2000 cycles, validating an improved “adsorption‐intercalation‐pore filling” mechanism.

Oleoylethanolamide regulates intestinal stem cell activity and villus size via PPARα signaling pathway

open access: yesiMetaOmics, EarlyView.
First use of a natural swine model with lipid metabolism to directly link lipid differences to a quantifiable intestinal villus height phenotype. Identified the phospholipid‐derived oleoylethanolamide, rather than canonical fatty acids, as the endogenous primary ligand that activates peroxisome proliferator‐activated receptors α (PPARα) to enlarge ...

Improved survival and neurological outcomes with lysophosphatidylcholine supplementation in severe cardiac arrest model

open access: yesFrontiers in Pharmacology
Cardiac arrest (CA) results in a loss of blood circulation, leading to whole-body ischemia-reperfusion injuries. A deficiency in plasma lysophosphatidylcholine (LPC) levels has been observed in both human patients and rat models and is implicated in ...

Evaluating Youth Participatory Action Research in the Americas: Comparative Insights on Empowerment, Methodologies, and Social Change

open access: yesJournal of Adolescence, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Youth Participatory Action Research (YPAR) positions adolescents as co‐researchers to investigate and address social issues affecting their lives. While YPAR has gained global prominence, comparative research examining how it is conceptualized and practiced across regional contexts remains limited.

Relational Healing: Survivors of Sex Trafficking and Their Experiences of Connection, Disconnection, and Growth

open access: yesJournal of Counseling &Development, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT In this interpretive phenomenological analysis, we interviewed 10 women to make meaning of their lived experiences of sex trafficking and mental health challenges and how relational dynamics influenced their healing and sense of self. Our analysis revealed four themes: (a) central relational paradox, which described internalized shame and ...
