Robust adaptive LQ control schemes
IEEE Transactions on Automatic Control, 1989Summary: The certainty equivalence principle is used to combine a robust adaptive law with a control structure derived from the linear quadratic (LQ) control problem. The resulting adaptive control scheme is applicable to minimum and nonminimum phase continuous-time plants and is robust with respect to unmodeled dynamics and bounded disturbances.

Deterministic LQ preview tracking design
IEEE Transactions on Automatic Control, 1995In this note the discrete-time linear quadratic tracking problem with previewed feedforward action is considered. It is assumed that the initial plant state is arbitrary and the whole reference sequence on (0, /spl infin/) is known in advance. The controller solving the problem is in a two-degrees-of-freedom form, whose feedback part equals the ...

LQ-control: a behavioral approach
Proceedings of 32nd IEEE Conference on Decision and Control, 2002The behavioral approach to modelling dynamical system is characterized, among other things, by the fact that it does not require that the input/output structure of the system to be displayed, nor does if require that a system is in a state space form.

In this paper design of switching controllers for linear systems with analog uncertainty is considered. The controllers are LQ controllers and switching sequence is determined by minimization of suitable defined priority function. The priority function includes switching penalty term which introduces cautiousness in switching discrete state.

A LQ Vaccine Communication Game
2019The vaccination issue is a crucial problem nowadays. We see the presence of an anti-vaccination movement, which takes actions to spread the idea that vaccines are ineffective and even dangerous. We propose a model for this public health problem using the differential game framework and aspire to help understanding the effectiveness of communication ...

LQ control of an irrigation channel
42nd IEEE International Conference on Decision and Control (IEEE Cat. No.03CH37475), 2004In this paper we consider LQ control of an irrigation channel in which the water levels are controlled using overshot gates located along the channel. Traditionally, irrigation channels have been modelled using the St. Venant equations which are partial differential equation, and hence quite difficult to use for control design.

Generalization of the $${\varvec{lq}}$$lq-modular closure theorem and applications
Archiv der Mathematik, 2018Let k be a field of characteristic $$ p\not =0 $$. For a (purely) inseparable extension K / k the notion of modularity, defined by M.E. Sweedler in the 60s, is a very important property, very much like being Galois for a separable extension. We have defined, together with M.

On LQ-control of magnetic bearing
IEEE Transactions on Control Systems Technology, 2000Control theory gives very few examples of control systems for which the closed-form solution to the linear-quadratic (LQ) optimization problem exists. The paper describes two such systems of second- and fourth-order concerning magnetic bearings and gives the closed-form solutions to the LQ-problems.
