Identification of suitable reference genes for quantitative reverse transcription PCR in Luffa (Luffa cylindrica)

Physiology and Molecular Biology of Plants, 2022
Reverse transcription real-time quantitative PCR is widely used to quantify gene expression. Reference genes are usually used as internal controls to measure the target gene expression level. To date, there is no consensus on the use of systematically validated reference genes in different tissues of Luffa. This study evaluated the expression stability

Nutritional and oil characteristics of the seeds of angled Luffa Luffa acutangula

Food Chemistry, 1982
Abstract Luffa seeds (L. acutangula), a member of the Cucurbitaceae family, were investigated for their potential nutritional and oil characteristics. The yield of seeds from the fruit was 33ยท5%, while the kernel was found to possess 50% of the seed weight.

Luffa acutangula : An Overview

INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF AGRICULTURAL ENGINEERING, 2018
The fruits of Luffa acutangula (ridge gourd) which belonging to family Cucurbitaceae are grown, harvested before maturity and is very popular in Asia. Ridge gourd as whole, seeds and dried crusts are all used for medicinal purposes. It is a healthy food and contains good amount of fiber, vitamins and minerals including Vitamin B2, Vitamin C, carotene ...

The Not-So-Aloof Luffa

Science Activities: Classroom Projects and Curriculum Ideas, 1999
A luffa is a natural vegetable sponge. With its skin on, it resembles a cucumber or a zucchini, and it is a member of the same family. Though widely grown, luffas are rarely studied. Since we discovered luffas in North Carolina back yards several years ago, we have found this gourd to be a wonderful science teaching tool.

A multiscale study on the structural and mechanical properties of the luffa sponge from Luffa cylindrica plant

Journal of Biomechanics, 2014
Cellular materials that are often observed in biological systems exhibit excellent mechanical properties at remarkably low densities. Luffa sponge is one of such materials with a complex interconnecting porous structure. In this paper, we studied the relationship between its structural and mechanical properties at different levels of its hierarchical ...

Flavonoids and the systematics of Luffa

Biochemical Systematics and Ecology, 1981
Abstract Flavonoids were characterized from leaves and flowers of six species of Luffa . Each species had a distinct flavonoid pattern. Based on leaf flavonoids, Luffa is separable into two groups of species: L. graveolens and L. operculata contain only flavonols. L. acutangula, L. aergyptiaca, L. echinata and L.

Hepatoprotective activity of Luffa echinata fruits

Journal of Ethnopharmacology, 2001
The different extracts of the fruits of Luffa echinata Roxb. (Cucurbitaceae) were tested for their hepatoprotective activity against CCl(4) induced hepatotoxicity in albino rats. The degree of protection was measured by using biochemical parameters like serum glutamic oxalacetic transaminase (SGOT), serum glutamic pyruvate transaminase (SGPT), alkaline

Hardware implementations of hash function Luffa

2010 IEEE International Symposium on Hardware-Oriented Security and Trust (HOST), 2010
This paper presents hardware architectures for the hash algorithm Luffa, which is a candidate for the next-generation hash standard SHA-3. The architectures were implemented by using a 90-nm CMOS standard cell library. A high throughput of 35 Gbps for a high-speed architecture and a gate count of 14.7 kgate for a compact architecture were obtained.
