Molecular immune responses of lumpfish (Cyclopterus lumpus) to aeromonas salmonicida
2023Lumpfish (Cyclopterus lumpus) have been utilized to biocontrol sea-lice (e.g., Lepeophtheirus salmonis) infestations in Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar) farms in the North Atlantic region. Aeromonas salmonicida subsp. salmonicida is a Gram-negative facultative intracellular pathogen infecting several fish species, including lumpfish.

Abstract Sea lice infestations causes major economic losses in the Atlantic salmon aquaculture industry, and cleaner fish, e.g. the lumpfish, Cyclopterus lumpus L., are therefore increasingly deployed as a biological control method. However, large variations in the cleaning efficacy have been observed, and in the Faroe Islands, the most prominent ...

First record of Tetramicra brevifilum in lumpfish (Cyclopterus lumpus, L.)
Journal of Fish Diseases, 2016AbstractA microsporidian species with 98.3–98.4% nucleotide identity to Tetramicra brevifilum (Journal of Fish Diseases, 3, 1980, 495) was diagnosed in lumpfish (Cyclopterus lumpus, L.) broodstock held at a breeding and rearing facility in western Ireland.
