Flow Enabled Target Capture Halbach‐based magnetic enrichment increases circulating tumor cell capture from blood in metastatic cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pair‐wise comparison of the CellSearch and FETCH enrichment technologies for circulating tumor cells (CTCs) from metastatic breast, prostate, and small cell lung cancer patients shows an increased capture of CTCs using FETCH enrichment. The clinical implementation of circulating tumor cells (CTCs) as a predictive tool for therapy efficacy in the ...

USP29‐regulated noncanonical stabilization of the hypoxia‐inducible factor‐α in aggressive prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We identify USP29 as the only DUB mirroring CA9 expression, a marker of hypoxia and HIF pathway activation associated with PCA aggressiveness. USP29 stabilizes HIF‐1α and HIF‐2α via a noncanonical mechanism that is independent of PHD/pVHL activity yet relies on proteasomal regulation, establishing USP29 as a previously unrecognized regulator of hypoxic

Polymorphisms of CYP1A1 I462V and GSTM1 genotypes and lung cancer susceptibility in Mongolian

open access: yes, 2009
Aim: To study the genotype of cytochrome P450 1A1(CYP1A1) I462V and glutathions S-transferase M1( GSTM1) and the relationship of the genetic polymorphism of them with the susceptibility of lung cancer in Mongolia of China.

MITF maintains genome stability in nonmelanocyte lineages

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
MITF is essential for melanocyte survival and acts as an oncogene in 10%–20% of melanomas. We show that MITF depletion causes genome instability in nonmelanocytic cells, leading to LATS2‐mediated P53 activation, cell cycle arrest, and apoptosis. This study highlights the role of MITF as a genome maintenance factor beyond the melanocyte lineage. Created

Pulmonary neuroendocrine cells: crucial players in respiratory function and airway-nerve communication

open access: yesFrontiers in Neuroscience
Pulmonary neuroendocrine cells (PNECs) are unique airway epithelial cells that blend neuronal and endocrine functions, acting as key sensors in the lung.

Prognostic value of hTERT mRNA expression in surgical samples of lung cancer patients : the European Early Lung Cancer Project

open access: yes, 2010
Lung cancer is the most important cause of cancer-related mortality. Resectability and eligibility for treatment with adjuvant chemotherapy is determined by staging according to the TNM classification.

Alcohol's Effects on the Lung and Lung Disease

open access: yesAlcohol Research: Current Reviews
Alcohol misuse is widely accepted as an independent risk factor for a wide variety of lung diseases, such as pneumonia and acute respiratory distress syndrome. Alcohol induces changes in the regulatory mechanisms of the lung, both at a mechanical and immunological level.

A novel quinazolinone insulin receptor inhibitor and its synergy with an EGFR inhibitor in glucose‐driven glioblastoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The novel styrylquinazolinone‐based molecule W1B effectively suppresses glioblastoma by inhibiting IGF1R and EGFR. In high‐glucose microenvironments driving tumor resistance, W1B acts synergistically with the EGFR inhibitor dacomitinib. This combination safely blocks compensatory survival signaling in zebrafish xenograft models. Showcasing promising in
