HTR4 gene structure and altered expression in the developing lung [PDF]
Background: Meta-analyses of genome-wide association studies (GWAS) have identified single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) spanning the 5-hydroxytryptamine receptor 4 (5-HT4R) gene (HTR4) associated with lung function. The aims of this study were to i)

Intersections of lung progenitor cells, lung disease and lung cancer [PDF]
The use of stem cell biology approaches to study adult lung progenitor cells and lung cancer has brought a variety of new techniques to the field of lung biology and has elucidated new pathways that may be therapeutic targets in lung cancer. Recent results have begun to identify the ways in which different cell populations interact to regulate ...

Here, we demonstrate that HS1BP3 interacts with Cortactin through a proline‐rich region (PRR3.1) and show that this interaction, and HS1BP3 itself, promote cancer cell proliferation and invasion. Inhibition of this interaction leads to build‐up of TKS5 in multivesicular endosomes and altered secretion of CD63 and CD9, providing an explanation for the ...

Quantification of lung glucose metabolism with positron emission tomography in patients with Acute Lung Injury [PDF]
Acute lung injury is lung pathologies that confer considerable morbidity and high mortality and has no specific treatment. One cause of ALI exacerbation can be the mechanical ventilation provided in the intensive care unit ICU probably because of ...

Dormant cancer cells can hide in distant organs for years, evading treatment and the immune system. This review highlights how signals from the surrounding tissue and immune environment keep these cells inactive or trigger their reawakening. Understanding these mechanisms may help develop therapies to eliminate or control dormant cells and prevent ...

EGFR exon 20 insertion in lung adenocarcinomas among hispanics (geno1.2-CLICaP)
Objectives Contrasting other EGFR mutations (EGFRm) in lung adenocarcinomas, insertions in exon 20 (exon20ins) are generally associated with resistance to targeted therapy, limiting therapeutic options and impoverishing the prognosis compared to other ...

Both cg12821679MAPRE3 methylation and MAPRE3 expression are significantly associated with overall survival (OS) of non‐small cell lung cancer. Meanwhile, MAPRE3 expression significantly modified the effect of smoking cessation on OS. Smoking cessation benefits OS merely for patients with high MAPRE3 expression.
