M2 macrophage−derived exosomes improves secondary lymphedema through cellular mitochondrial homeostasis regulation via the Keap1-Nrf2/mPTP axis

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology
BackgroundSecondary lymphedema leads to progressive tissue remodeling and immune dysregulation. Dysregulation of macrophage polarization critically influences pathological progression.

The roadmap towards elimination of lymphatic filariasis by 2030: insights from quantitative and mathematical modelling [version 1; peer review: 2 approved]

open access: yesGates Open Research, 2019
The Global Programme to Eliminate Lymphatic Filariasis was launched in 2000 to eliminate lymphatic filariasis (LF) as a public health problem by 1) interrupting transmission through mass drug administration (MDA) and 2) offering basic care to those ...

Uncovering potential molecular biomarkers for cancer-associated secondary lymphedema through integrated analyses of RNA-sequencing, machine learning, and clinical data

open access: yesFrontiers in Oncology
BackgroundCancer-associated secondary lymphedema (CASL) commonly occurs after tumor-related lymph node dissection and radiotherapy. Nevertheless, the mechanisms of CASL remain unclear, and there are no specific molecular markers for its diagnosis and ...

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.
