Molecular characterisation of human penile carcinoma and generation of paired epithelial primary cell lines

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Generation of two normal and tumour (cancerous) paired human cell lines using an established tissue culture technique and their characterisation is described. Cell lines were characterised at cellular, protein, chromosome and gene expression levels and for HPV status.

Cardiac lymphatics in health and disease [PDF]

open access: yesNature Reviews Cardiology, 2018
The lymphatic vasculature, which accompanies the blood vasculature in most organs, is indispensable in the maintenance of tissue fluid homeostasis, immune cell trafficking, and nutritional lipid uptake and transport, as well as in reverse cholesterol transport.

The Lymphatic System in Kidney Disease

open access: yesKidney360, 2023
The high-capacity vessels of the lymphatic system drain extravasated fluid and macromolecules from nearly every part of the body. However, far from merely a passive conduit for fluid removal, the lymphatic system also plays a critical and active role in immune surveillance and immune response modulation through the presentation of fluid, macromolecules,

Cis‐regulatory and long noncoding RNA alterations in breast cancer – current insights, biomarker utility, and the critical need for functional validation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The noncoding region of the genome plays a key role in regulating gene expression, and mutations within these regions are capable of altering it. Researchers have identified multiple functional noncoding mutations associated with increased cancer risk in the genome of breast cancer patients.

Outcomes Following Iliac Vein Stenting for Non-Thrombotic Iliac Vein Lesions—A Narrative Review Based on Large Sample Studies

open access: yesJournal of Functional Biomaterials
Objective: May–Thurner syndrome typically refers to symptoms and signs arising from the compression of the left common iliac vein by the right common iliac artery. However, such clinical manifestations can occur in the setting of compression of the right

Uro-lymphatic fistula associated with urolithiasis: A case report

open access: yesRadiology Case Reports, 2022
Uro-lymphatic fistulas are rare, and involve communication between the renal collecting system and the lymphatic system. The disorder is usually caused by the obstruction of lymphatic vessels due to several diseases, leading to chyluria.

Gastrointestinal lymphatics in health and disease [PDF]

open access: yesPathophysiology, 2010
Lymphatics perform essential transport and immune regulatory functions to maintain homeostasis in the gastrointestinal (GI) system. Although blood and lymphatic vessels function as parallel and integrated systems, our understanding of lymphatic structure, regulation and functioning lags far behind that of the blood vascular system. This chapter reviews

Detection of circulating tumor DNA in colorectal cancer patients using a methylation‐specific droplet digital PCR multiplex

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We developed a cost‐effective methylation‐specific droplet digital PCR multiplex assay containing tissue‐conserved and tumor‐specific methylation markers. The assay can detect circulating tumor DNA with high accuracy in patients with localized and metastatic colorectal cancer.
