Abstract The lymphatic system plays a fundamental part in regulating the physiologic environment by returning protein, cells, mac- romolecules, and fluid to the bloodstream, as well as by removing metabolic byproducts, dying or mutant cells, microbes, and inorganic matter. It also acts as a conduit for trafficking immune cell populations.
