DNA Origami‐Cyanine Nanocomplex for Precision Imaging of KRAS‐Mutant Pancreatic Cancer Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
DNA origami‐cyanine (Do‐Cy) nanocomplexes are synthesized to selectively image KRAS‐mutant pancreatic cancer cells in the highly desmoplastic tumors. This study shows that the Do‐Cy nanocomplexes are preferentially internalized by cancer cells over other stroma cells via KRAS‐dependent macropinocytosis.

The optimum marker for the detection of lymphatic vessels

open access: yesMolecular and clinical oncology, 2017
Podoplanin, lymphatic vessel endothelial hyaluronic acid receptor-1, prospero-related homeobox-1 and vascular endothelial growth factor receptor 3 have been demonstrated to have crucial roles in the development of the lymphatic system and ...

PRMT1 Ablation in Endothelial Cells Causes Endothelial Dysfunction and Aggravates COPD Attributable to Dysregulated NF‐κB Signaling

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study investigates the role of protein arginine methyltransferase 1 (PRMT1) in endothelial cells (ECs) in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Mice with endothelial‐specific PRMT1 deletion develop pulmonary hemorrhage, inflammation, and apoptosis, driven by excessive nuclear factor kappa B activation.

Endogenous TNFα orchestrates the trafficking of neutrophils into and within lymphatic vessels during acute inflammation

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2017
Neutrophils are recognised to play a pivotal role at the interface between innate and acquired immunities following their recruitment to inflamed tissues and lymphoid organs. While neutrophil trafficking through blood vessels has been extensively studied,

Microneedles at the Forefront of Next Generation Theranostics

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The TOC figure illustrates the revolutionary role of microneedles in modern medicine, showcasing their dual diagnostic and therapeutic functions. On the left, microneedles access interstitial fluid for real‐time monitoring of biomarkers like glucose and hormones.

Application of optical coherence tomography for in vivo monitoring of the meningeal lymphatic vessels during opening of blood–brain barrier: mechanisms of brain clearing

open access: yesJournal of Biomedical Optics, 2017
. The meningeal lymphatic vessels were discovered 2 years ago as the drainage system involved in the mechanisms underlying the clearance of waste products from the brain.

Extravasation of Borrelia burgdorferi Across the Blood–Brain Barrier is an Extremely Rare Event

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Lyme disease is caused by vascular dissemination of the bacteria Borrelia. In a 3D tissue‐engineered microvessel model, Borrelia extravasation across the blood–brain barrier is extremely rare, implying that neuroborreliosis is not caused via direct cytotoxicity.

Lymphatic Vessels, Inflammation, and Immunity in Skin Cancer.

open access: yesCancer Discovery, 2016
UNLABELLED Skin is a highly ordered immune organ that coordinates rapid responses to external insult while maintaining self-tolerance. In healthy tissue, lymphatic vessels drain fluid and coordinate local immune responses; however, environmental factors ...

A Mathematical Model for Lymphangiogenesis in Normal and Diabetic Wounds [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2015
Several studies suggest that one possible cause of impaired wound healing is failed or insufficient lymphangiogenesis, that is the formation of new lymphatic capillaries. Although many mathematical models have been developed to describe the formation of blood capillaries (angiogenesis) very few have been proposed for the regeneration of the lymphatic ...

Verteporfin‐Mediated In Situ Nanovaccine Based on Local Conventional‐Dose Hypofractionated Radiotherapy Enhances Antitumor and Immunomodulatory Effect

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Here gelatinase‐responsive methoxypolyethyleneglycol–PVGLIG–polycaprolactone (mPEG–PVGLIG–PCL) nanoparticles’ loading verteporfin (N@VP) is developed, enhancing radiotherapy via X‐ray‐triggered singlet oxygen generation. Combined with 2 Gy (gray, a radiation dose unit) irradiation, N@VP achieves antitumor efficacy comparable to 8 Gy, and also promotes ...
