T-lymphocyte subsets in acute illness
Critical Care Medicine, 1995To determine the range of T-lymphocyte subsets (CD4, CD8, and CD4/CD8 ratios) in acutely ill, hospitalized patients and to determine whether these concentrations correlate with illness severity, survival rate, or immunodepression.Cross-sectional study, comparing Acute Physiology and Chronic Health Evaluation II (APACHE II) scores and the calculated ...

Activated lymphocyte subsets in adult periodontitis*
Journal of Periodontal Research, 1992The activation state of T and B lymphocytes in the peripheral blood of periodontitis patients may be a reflection of disease activity. We have utilized 2‐ and 3‐color flow cytometric analyses using a new chromophore, peridinin chlorophyll A protein, and conventional dyes, fluorescein isothiocyanate and phycoerythrin, conjugated to monoclonal antibodies

Circannual variation in lymphocyte subsets, revisited
Transfusion, 1994Background: Circadian and circannual variations in lymphocyte subsets, especially CD8+ T‐lymphocytes, have been reported. This study focuses on CD4+ T‐lymphocyte seasonal variation over a 6‐year 8‐month period.Study Design and Methods: Lymphocyte subsets were quantitated monthly for four healthy individuals from 1986 through 1992 as part of a flow ...

Lymphocyte subsets in endometriosis.
Obstetrics and gynecology, 1984Recent investigations suggested a possible immunologic etiology for endometriosis. To determine whether cellular immunity may be affected in patients with endometriosis, peripheral lymphocyte populations were investigated in 31 confirmed endometriosis patients and 22 control patients.

B lymphocyte subsets in Hashimoto's thyroiditis
Immunology Letters, 1989Two B lymphocyte subsets are identified on the basis of possession or lack of a surface molecule, CD5. The CD5+ B lymphocytes synthesize autoantibodies and in the process rearrange proximal variables of immunoglobulin genes. We have here studied the proportion and absolute counts of CD5+ B lymphocytes in the peripheral blood of 31 patients with ...

Exercise Intensity and Lymphocyte Subset Apoptosis
International Journal of Sports Medicine, 2012This investigation assessed the lymphocyte subset response to increasing intensity. Participants completed an exertion test (VO(2max)), and later performed a 10-min run at 76% VO(2max), 5-min at 87%, and run to exhaustion at 100% intensity. Blood was sampled at rest, following each intensity, and 1-h post.

Lymphocyte subsets in Chediak-Higashi patients
Immunology Letters, 1983Peripheral blood lymphocyte subsets were studied in 6 Chediak-Higashi patients and 12 family members. The lymphocyte subsets were characterized by monoclonal antibody reagents and fluorescence flow-cytometry. An increase in OKT8 (suppressor/cytotoxic) and a decrease in OKT4 (helper) cell populations was observed in all patients studied.

[Lymphocyte subsets and preeclampsia].
Ginecologia y obstetricia de Mexico, 2009Preeclampsia origin has no conclusive explanation. As part of its etiology it has been proposed immunologic disorders. This work explores several lymphocytes subsets and postulates possible mechanisms involved in a lost of immune tolerance in this entity. To compare cellular populations of CD3+ CD56+, CD4+ CD25+, T lymphocytes (CD4+ and CD8+) and NK ...

T-lymphocyte-subsets in endocrine exophthalmos.
Metabolic, pediatric, and systemic ophthalmology (New York, N.Y. : 1985), 1985Peripheral T-Lymphocyte subsets were analyzed with monolateral antibodies in 40 patients with Graves' ophthalmopathy. The 20 patients with untreated hyperthyroid exophthalmos showed a slight statistically not significant decrease in the percentage of total T-Lymphocytes and a statistically significant decrease with percentage of the OK T8 cells.

Recognition of Lysozyme by Lymphocyte Subsets
1978Extensive studies with antisera from a variety of animals have failed to detect any cross-reactivity between egg white lysozyme and its reduced, S-carboxymethylated (CM-) derivative. In contrast, a number of studies addressing the specificity of T lymphocytes have revealed that these two forms of lysozyme cross-react rather extensively at that level ...
