Development of 4T1 breast cancer mouse model system for preclinical carbonic anhydrase IX studies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Carbonic anhydrase IX (CAIX) is a well‐recognised therapeutic target and prognostic biomarker in cancer. We developed and characterised a robust murine breast cancer model system that is suitable for CAIX studies in vitro and in vivo—it comprises both CAIX‐positive and CAIX‐negative controls and provides a solid platform for the comprehensive ...

IL-12 and IL-4 activate a CD39-dependent intrinsic peripheral tolerance mechanism in CD8+ T cells [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Immune responses to protein antigens involve CD4+ and CD8+ T cells, which follow distinct programs of differentiation. Naïve CD8 T cells rapidly develop cytotoxic T-cell (CTL) activity after T-cell receptor stimulation, and we have previously shown that ...

Current trends in single‐cell RNA sequencing applications in diabetes mellitus

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Single‐cell RNA sequencing is a powerful approach to decipher the cellular and molecular landscape at a single‐cell resolution. The rapid development of this technology has led to a wide range of applications, including the detection of cellular and molecular mechanisms and the identification and introduction of novel potential diagnostic and ...

Assessing Tumor-Infiltrating Lymphocytes in Solid Tumors

open access: yes, 2017
Assessment of the immune response to tumors is growing in importance as the prognostic implications of this response are increasingly recognized, and as immunotherapies are evaluated and implemented in different tumor types. However, many different approaches can be used to assess and describe the immune response, which limits efforts at implementation

Characterization of human γδ T lymphocytes infiltrating primary malignant melanomas.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2012
T lymphocytes are often induced naturally in melanoma patients and infiltrate tumors. Given that γδ T cells mediate antigen-specific killing of tumor cells, we studied the representation and the in vitro cytokine production and cytotoxic activity of ...

Liver‐specific lncRNAs associated with liver cancers

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Long non‐coding RNAs (lncRNAs) are regulatory molecules with various functions. They are more tissue‐specific than proteins and can be used as potential biomarkers, particularly in cancer diagnostics and prognosis. In this review, we have systematically compiled all lncRNAs with exclusive expression in the human liver, verified their liver specificity ...

ITGAE Defines CD8+ Tumor-Infiltrating Lymphocytes Predicting a better Prognostic Survival in Colorectal CancerResearch in context

open access: yesEBioMedicine, 2018
Background: Tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes (TIL) in colorectal tumor tissue are significantly correlated with a favorable prognosis, such as CD8+ lymphocytes, which are also called tumor-reactive lymphocytes.

Analysis of Tumor-infiltrating Lymphocytes Following CD45 Enrichment

open access: yesBio-Protocol, 2014
Measuring antigen-specific T cell responses in the blood and lymphoid organs of vaccinated mice can give us a useful indication of the potency of a vaccine formulation.

Glial Fibrillary Acidic Protein Astrocytopathy Based on a Two‐Center Chinese Cohort Study

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Glial fibrillary acidic protein astrocytopathy (GFAP‐A) is a recently defined nosological form belonging to the class of autoimmune inflammatory disorders affecting the central nervous system (CNS). Here, we report the clinical and MRI characteristics, treatment, and prognosis of a GFAP‐A cohort from two centers in China.

Strategies to Design and Optimize Artificial Antigen‐Presenting Cells for T Cell Expansion in Cancer Immunotherapy

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This review highlights recent advances in engineering artificial antigen‐presenting cells (aAPCs) as alternatives to dendritic cells for T cell expansion. Key design principles inspired by the immunological synapse are discussed, with emphasis on strategies for polyclonal and antigen‐specific T cell expansion.
