Utilizing Automated Breast Cancer Detection to Identify Spatial Distributions of Tumor Infiltrating Lymphocytes in Invasive Breast Cancer [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2019
Quantitative assessment of Tumor-TIL spatial relationships is increasingly important in both basic science and clinical aspects of breast cancer research. We have developed and evaluated convolutional neural network (CNN) analysis pipelines to generate combined maps of cancer regions and tumor infiltrating lymphocytes (TILs) in routine diagnostic ...

The role of circular RNAs in regulating cytokine signaling in cancer

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Cytokines present in the tumor microenvironment fuel cancer development. Aberrant expression of circRNAs contributes to cancer progression. Cytokines are involved in regulating circRNA biogenesis. Furthermore, aberrantly expressed circRNAs regulate the expression of ligands, receptors, and downstream effectors involved in cytokine signaling to promote ...

Development of 4T1 breast cancer mouse model system for preclinical carbonic anhydrase IX studies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Carbonic anhydrase IX (CAIX) is a well‐recognised therapeutic target and prognostic biomarker in cancer. We developed and characterised a robust murine breast cancer model system that is suitable for CAIX studies in vitro and in vivo—it comprises both CAIX‐positive and CAIX‐negative controls and provides a solid platform for the comprehensive ...

FEM1B enhances TRAIL‐induced apoptosis in T lymphocytes and monocytes

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
FEM1B facilitates TRAIL‐induced apoptosis through distinct mechanisms in T lymphocytes and monocytes. In T lymphocytes, FEM1B engages with TRAF2, leading to a reduction in TRAF2 expression, which subsequently lessens TRAF2's inhibitory influence on caspase‐8.

Response of lymphocytes to a mitogenic stimulus during spaceflight [PDF]

open access: yes
Several studies were performed that demonstrate that immunological activities of lymphocytes can be affected by spaceflight or by models that attempt to simulate some aspects of weightlessness.

Evaluation of Platelet-to-Lymphocyte Ratio in Predicting Early and Long Term Outcomes Following Acute Coronary Syndrome

open access: yesMajallah-i Dānishgāh-i ̒Ulūm-i Pizishkī-i Bābul, 2020
BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE: The platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR) might be an important and critical measure in evaluating and anticipating undesirable outcomes in patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS).
