Hydrocephalus complicating lymphocytic choriomeningitis virus infection
The Pediatric Infectious Disease Journal, 1993Lymphocytic choriomeningitis virus (LCMV) disease is a human zoonotic infection acquired by contact with infected mice, hamsters or their excreta.1 The reported spectrum of LCMV-associated central nervous system (CNS) disease ranges from mild aseptic meningitis to fatal meningoencephalitis ...

Lymphocytic choriomeningitis virus
Medical Microbiology and Immunology, 1976Lymphocytic choriomeningitis (LCM) virus-specific complement-fixing (CF) antigen (ECFA) has been solubilized, concentrated, and partially purified. When inoculated together with Freund's adjuvant, ECFA induced CF antibody but not neutralizing antibody or protective immunity. By itself it boosted pre-existing CF antibody but no neutralizing antibody. In

Thymus-Dependent Lymphocytes: Destruction by Lymphocytic Choriomeningitis Virus
Science, 1969Selective destruction of small lymphocytes in the thymusdependent areas of lymph nodes and thymocytes was observed in mice infected with lymphocytic choriomeningitis virus. These changes were clearly evident in lymphoid and splenic tissue 3 days after infection and in the thymus by day 7.

Lymphocytic Choriomeningitis Virus
2006There has been an upsurge of interest in lymphocytic choriomeningitis virus (LCMV) as a human pathogen and specifically as an underdiagnosed congenital infection (1,2). LCMV is a member of the Arenaviridae family of viruses. Arenaviruses have a complex life cycle involving chronic infection and shedding of the virus in rodents and episodic infections ...

Lymphocytic choriomeningitis virus
Archives of Virology, 1983The structure of lymphocytic choriomeningitis virus (LCM virus) was investigated by a variety of conventional as well as novel electron microscopic procedures. Thin sections of infected cells revealed the characteristic arenavirus entities whose interiors contain ribosome-like granules but look otherwise empty.

Lymphocytic Choriomeningitis Virus and Immunology
2002I. Neonatal tolerance, absence of immunity after intra-uterine or neonatal infection (TRAUB 1936, 1938). The comprehensive view and interpretation was made by BURNET (1949). 2. Immunity can cause disease (RowE 1954; HOTCHIN 1962). 3. Different LCMV isolates and mutants exhibit distinct tropism and distinct immunopathological diseases (HOTCHIN 1962 ...

Lymphocytic Choriomeningitis Virus in Man
JAMA, 1975Laboratory evidence of recent or current lymphocytic choriomeningitis (LCM) virus infection was obtained in 60 patients. Twelve had diagnoses of central nervous system (CNS) infection: four of meningoencephalitis and eight of meningitis. Thirty-four patients had a grippe-like syndrome. Fifty-nine had had contact with pet hamsters.
