Action of Steroids on Lysergic Acid Diethylamide (LSD) Metabolism.

open access: yesExperimental Biology and Medicine, 1962
SummaryA method is described which permits the biotransformation of LSD by a rat liver homogenate fraction. The rate of biotransformation is reduced significantly by steroids at concentrations as low as 10-7 M. The view is expressed that steroids block the action and metabolism of LSD by interfering with the LSD-receptor relationship in the cell.

Molecular determinants of signal transduction in tropomyosin receptor kinases

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, Volume 16, Issue 2, Page 252-267, February 2026.
Tropomyosin receptor kinases control critical neuronal functions, but how do the same receptors produce diverse cellular responses? This review explores the structural mechanisms behind Trk signaling diversity, focusing on allosteric modulation and ligand bias.

Pharmacology of novel psychoactive substances [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
This PhD work consists of an in vitro and in vivo part. In the in vivo part, we investigated the role of dopamine in the acute clinical effects of 3,4-methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA, “ecstasy”) in healthy human subjects.

ENTHEOGENS, MYSTICISM, AND NEUROSCIENCE

open access: yesZygon, 2014
Entheogens or psychedelic drugs such as lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD) and psilocybin are associated with mystical states of experience. Drug laws currently limit research, but important new work is under way at major biomedical research facilities ...

Evaluating the Potential of Microdosing 1cp‐LSD for the Treatment of Canine Anxiety: A One‐Month Case Study

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science
This pilot study explored the potential of microdosing 1‐cyclopropionyl‐d‐lysergic acid diethylamide (1cp‐LSD) to treat canine anxiety. A single‐case study was conducted on a 13‐year‐old female dog with severe separation anxiety, who was treated with 5 ...

Serotonergic hallucinogens and recognition of facial emotion expressions: a systematic review of the literature

open access: yesTherapeutic Advances in Psychopharmacology, 2019
Background: Recognition of emotions in facial expressions (REFE) is a key aspect of social cognition. Anxiety and mood disorders are associated with deficits in REFE, and anxiolytics and antidepressants reverse these deficits.
