PIP4K2A regulates intracellular cholesterol transport through modulating PI(4,5)P2 homeostasis
The transport of LDL-derived cholesterol from lysosomes to peroxisomes is facilitated by membrane contacts formed between the lysosomal protein synaptotagmin VII and the peroxisomal lipid phosphatidylinositol 4, 5-bisphosphate [PI(4,5)P2].

A cell-based assay for CD63-containing extracellular vesicles [PDF]
Extracellular vesicles (EVs) are thought to be important in cell-cell communication and have elicited extraordinary interest as potential biomarkers of disease. However, quantitative methods to enable elucidation of mechanisms underlying release are few.

Dendritic transport. II. Somatofugal movement of neuronal lysosomes induced by colchicine: evidence for a novel transport system in dendrites. [PDF]
The effect of colchicine injections on the ultrastructural localization of dipeptidyl peptidase II (Dpp II) was studied in the mitral cells of the rat olfactory bulb.

High lumenal chloride in the lysosome is critical for lysosome function
AbstractLysosomes are organelles responsible for the breakdown and recycling of cellular machinery. Dysfunctional lysosomes give rise to lysosomal storage disorders as well as common neurodegenerative diseases. Here, we use a DNA-based, fluorescent chloride reporter to measure lysosomal chloride inCaenorhabditis elegansas well as murine and human cell ...

The pre‐internalization phase of endocytosis remains poorly characterized at single‐cell levels. Single‐cell pre‐internalization mechanics are investigated using advanced robotic techniques. Cancer cells exhibit biphasic adhesion – rapid initial binding followed by reinforcement – while fibroblasts show gradual engagement.

Biomaterial Strategies for Targeted Intracellular Delivery to Phagocytes
Phagocytes are essential to a functional immune system, and their behavior defines disease outcomes. Engineered particles offer a strategic opportunity to target phagocytes, harnessing inflammatory modulation in disease. By tuning features like size, shape, and surface, these systems can modulate immune responses and improve targeted treatment for a ...
