Regulation of KSHV Lytic Switch Protein Expression by a Virus-Encoded MicroRNA: An Evolutionary Adaptation that Fine-Tunes Lytic Reactivation

open access: yes, 2009
SummaryHerpesviruses encode numerous microRNAs (miRNAs), most of whose functions are unknown. The Kaposi's sarcoma-associated herpesvirus (KSHV) encodes 17 known miRNAs as part of its latency program, suggesting that these RNAs might function to regulate

Studies on Marine Bacteria Producing Lytic Enzymes-Ⅴ Culture Condition for the Production of Lytic Enzyme [PDF]

open access: yes, 1981
application/pdfThe production of lytic enzyme by strain V 37 was investigated using polypeptone-yeast extract medium or chemically defined medium under various culture conditions. Strain V 37 grew well and also produced lytic enzyme at pH5.0,6.0,7.0 and

K-RTA inhibits EBV lytic gene expression.

open access: yes, 2013
A. K-RTA inhibits the EBV lytic gene expression in Akata cells. Akata (EBV+/KSHV-) cells were transfected with K-RTA or vector plasmid (5 µg DNA). EBV lytic replication was induced by anti-human-IgGs a day later (0, 1, 5, 10 µg/ml).

Paleopathology of a putative colossosaurian caudal vertebra (Neosauropoda: Titanosauria) from the Presidente Prudente Formation, Brazil

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract Studies investigating paleopathologies in sauropods remain scarce despite their relative abundance in the fossil record. In this study we report new occurrence of paleopathological features, corresponding to a neoplasm found in a middle caudal vertebra (MCT.R.2120) of an advanced titanosaur from the Presidente Prudente Formation (Bauru Basin ...

Multivariate Analysis of Hematological Stress Biomarkers and Welfare Domains in Organic and Intensive Pig Farming in Italy: A Pilot Study

open access: yesAnimal Research and One Health, EarlyView.
Intensive or organic farming systems may expose pigs to management or environmental challenges. Our preliminary results concluded that organic farming might enhance adaptive immune function, showing that improvements in welfare can translate into measurable immunological benefits, based on the correlation between welfare assessment and physiological ...

Discovery of CRBN‐based molecular glue degraders targeting WIZ transcription factor

open access: yesBulletin of the Korean Chemical Society, EarlyView.
This work reports the discovery of 9l, a novel cereblon‐based molecular glue degrader which targets the WIZ transcription factor. Compound 9l facilitates WIZ‐CRBN ternary complex formation to degrade WIZ, subsequently inducing γ‐globin expression in HUDEP‐2 cells and highlighting its potential as a sickle cell disease therapy.

Targeting neutrophil extracellular traps in metabolic and immune niche: Nanomaterials for diabetes tissue regeneration

open access: yesBMEMat, EarlyView.
The effects of NETs on regeneration of various diabetic tissues, and strategies targeting NETs for diabetes tissue regeneration. In the diabetic environment, NETs undergo complex metabolic and immune reprogramming, leading to dynamic changes in antibacterial and proinflammatory functions, and affecting regeneration of multiple systemic tissues.
