Microclimate refugia shape microclimatic niches and predict individual variability in post‐breeding migration in a partially migratory species

open access: yesJournal of Animal Ecology, Volume 94, Issue 12, Page 2527-2541, December 2025.
The niche is characterized along a gradient of temperature and microclimate refugia. Individuals in breeding areas with low microclimate refugia availability are more likely to cover larger distances to post‐breeding areas, increasing exposure to risks.

A maximum temperature forecasting method for the city of Pelotas, Rio Grande do Sul Un método de pronóstico de temperatura máxima para la ciudad de Pelotas, Rio Grande do Sul

open access: yesMeteorologica, 2005
Forecasting maximum temperature is very important for the population. In order to offer a way of forecasting this temperature, a method was adapted and tested based on the height of the layer with a dry adiabatic lapse rate.

Vulnerability of tropical fish communities across depth in the central Indian Ocean

open access: yesConservation Biology, Volume 39, Issue 6, December 2025.
Abstract Coral reefs and their fish communities below scuba diving depth (>30 m), in mesophotic coral ecosystems (MCEs) (∼30–150 m), in rariphotic (150–300 m), and in upper bathyal waters (300–500 m) are often underexplored, especially in the Indian Ocean.

Microstructural characterization of directionally solidified composites [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Los compuestos de matriz metálica (MMCs) reforzados con partículas cerámicas ofrecen una alta resistencia y módulo de elasticidad, así como también buenas propiedades a alta temperatura comparadas con las de los materiales convencionales.

Warming benefits to sheep fescue are negated by nearby plants and moss–lichen layers facilitate mycorrhizae in a tundra

open access: yesEcosphere, Volume 16, Issue 11, November 2025.
Abstract In systems where low temperatures limit plant productivity, facilitative effects of surrounding vegetation on juvenile plants may outweigh effects of competition for resources. This facilitation could occur through temperature buffering but also via increased availability of root mutualists such as mycorrhizal fungi.

The epiphytic Cactaceae Hylocereus setaceus (Salm-Dick ex DC.) ralf bauer seed germination is controlled by light and temperature

open access: yesBrazilian Archives of Biology and Technology, 2007
The effect of light and temperature on seed germination in Hylocereus setaceus was analyzed by isothermic incubations under continuous white light and darkness.

Biomass production of tropical trees across space and time: The shifting roles of diameter growth and wood density

open access: yesJournal of Ecology, Volume 113, Issue 11, Page 3141-3158, November 2025.
Diameter growth is an important and good indicator of forest carbon production. However, size‐related changes in wood density, which are usually neglected, are critical for accurate short‐ and long‐term carbon assessments, especially in tropical humid sites.
