Natural Products for Regulating Macrophages M2 Polarization

Current Stem Cell Research & Therapy, 2020
Macrophages M2 polarization have been taken as an anti-inflammatory progression during inflammation. Natural plant-derived products, with potential therapeutic and preventive activities against inflammatory diseases, have received increasing attention in recent years because of their whole regulative effects and specific pharmacological activities ...

Sevoflurane suppresses microglial M2 polarization

Neuroscience Letters, 2017
Microglia can be polarized into the classical (M1) or alternative (M2) activation states in response to various stimuli. The M2 phenotype has its own set of receptor profiles, cytokine production, and chemokine secretion, of which arginase 1 (Arg1), chitinase 3-like 3 (Chi3l3, Ym1), and IL-10 have neuroprotective properties.

A Gene Expression Analysis of M1 and M2 Polarized Macrophages

2020
Macrophages are professional innate immune cells that are broadly disseminated throughout the body, shape various innate and adaptive immune responses, and play crucial roles in inflammation, homeostasis, wound healing, and tissue remodelling. According to their surrounding microenvironments, macrophages can differentiate themselves in different ...

Periodontal ligament stem cells promote polarization of M2 macrophages

Journal of Leukocyte Biology, 2022
AbstractMacrophages are widely distributed in a variety of tissues, and the different state of macrophages polarization is closely related to the occurrence, development, and prognosis of inflammation, including periodontitis, a chronic inflammatory disease leading to tooth loss worldwide.

Gremlin 1 is required for macrophage M2 polarization

2022
Abstract Pro-proliferative, M2-like polarization of macrophages is a critical step in the development of fibrosis and remodeling in chronic lung diseases such as pulmonary fibrosis and pulmonary hypertension. Macrophages in healthy and diseased lungs express gremlin 1 (Grem1), a secreted glycoprotein that acts in both paracrine and ...

Macrophage polarization: tumor-associated macrophages as a paradigm for polarized M2 mononuclear phagocytes

Trends in Immunology, 2002
Mononuclear phagocytes are versatile cells that can express different functional programs in response to microenvironmental signals. Fully polarized M1 and M2 (or alternatively activated) macrophages are the extremes of a continuum of functional states.

Photobiomodulation induces murine macrophages polarization toward M2 phenotype

Toxicon, 2021
Photobiomodulation using light-emitting diode (LED) treatment has analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects which can be an effective therapeutic associated with serum therapy for local treatment of snakebites. Here we explored the effects of LED treatment on isolated macrophage under Bothrops jararacussu venom.

Targeting JUNB to modulate M2 macrophage polarization in preeclampsia

Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Molecular Basis of Disease
Preeclampsia (PE) is a complex disorder affecting pregnant women, leading to significant maternal and fetal morbidity and mortality. Understanding the cellular dynamics and molecular mechanisms underlying PE is crucial for developing effective therapeutic strategies.

The In Vitro M1/M2 Polarization of Macrophages of BCG-Infected Mice

Bulletin of Experimental Biology and Medicine, 2020
Cultured peritoneal macrophages from intact (control) and BCG-infected (experiment) male BALB/c mice were studied 90 days after infection. Polarization of macrophages by M1 (expression of GM-CSF, IFNγ, and CD16/32) and M2 (expression of bFGF and CD36) differentiation pathways was studied with consideration for their the nuclearity class.

Interleukin‐4‐Clicked Surfaces Drive M2 Macrophage Polarization

ChemBioChem, 2016
AbstractDriving macrophage (Mϕ) polarization into the M2 phenotype provides potential against inflammatory diseases. Interleukin‐4 (IL‐4) promotes polarization into the M2‐Mϕ phenotype, but its systemic use is constrained by dose‐limiting toxicity. Consequently, we developed IL‐4‐decorated surfaces aiming at sustained and localized activity.
