Water Masers in the Andromeda Galaxy: The First Step Toward Proper Motion

open access: yes, 2011
We have detected and confirmed five water maser complexes in the Andromeda Galaxy (M31) using the Green Bank Telescope. These masers will provide the high brightness temperature point sources needed for proper motion studies of M31, enabling measurement ...

Electro‐Active Polymer Actuated Microfiltration Membranes: Design, Performance, and Particle Dynamics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 36, Issue 21, 12 March 2026.
The concept of foulant particle manipulation and detachment from active microfiltration membranes via voltage‐driven vibrations is introduced. Actuator components are initially integrated onto the filtration membranes using an airbrush spray printing technique.

2MASS NIR photometry for 693 candidate globular clusters in M31 and the Revised Bologna Catalogue

open access: yes, 2003
We have identified in the 2MASS database 693 known and candidate globular clusters in M31. The 2MASS J,H,K magnitudes of these objects have been transformed to the same homogeneous photometric system of existing near infrared photometry of M31 globulars,

Poly(vinylidene Fluoride)‐Based Ferroelectric Polymers for Electromechanical Transduction: A Systematic Review of Materials and Actuators

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, Volume 8, Issue 3, March 2026.
Poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF)‐based ferroelectric materials exhibit high strains, energy densities and coupling efficiencies, appealing for diverse applications requiring smart material actuators. This work reviews electromechanical transduction in PVDF‐based polymers and their modifications, implementation in actuators, and functional devices ...

DESI Observations of the Andromeda Galaxy: Revealing the Immigration History of Our Nearest Neighbor

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2023
We present Dark Energy Spectroscopic Instrument (DESI) observations of the inner halo of M31, which reveal the kinematics of a recent merger—a galactic immigration event—in exquisite detail.

Evaluating Evapotranspiration Simulation Performance in 30 Conceptual Hydrological Models: Insights Into ET Representation Across Diverse Climates

open access: yesWater Resources Research, Volume 62, Issue 3, March 2026.
Abstract Existing comparative studies on conceptual hydrological model structures have generally focused on streamflow, with less attention to evapotranspiration (ET). Yet, appropriate ET representation in conceptual models is crucial for obtaining reliable hydrological simulations, especially under climate change and in ungauged basins.

The M31–M33 Interaction: Impact on M31’s Center-of-mass Motion and Satellite Orbits

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
Inspired by recent studies of the interaction between the Milky Way and the Large Magellanic Cloud and its implications for the Milky Way’s global dynamical history, we investigate how the massive satellite galaxy M33 influences the position and velocity

Abundances of Disk Planetary Nebulae in M31 and the Radial Oxygen Gradient

open access: yes, 2011
We have obtained spectra of 16 planetary nebulae in the disk of M31 and determined the abundances of He, N, O, Ne, S and Ar. Here we present the median abundances and compare them with previous M31 PN disk measurements and with PNe in the Milky Way.
