An occurrence of the bacteriophage genes among Streptococcus pyogenes strains of M49 serotype

In this study an occurrence of bacteriophage genes among S. pyogenes strains of M49 serotype was studied by two methods, PCR and DNA-DNA hybridization. It was found, that the presence of the phage genes and/or prophages was associated with geographic region of the strain isolation.
