Effect of Crosslinking on the Physical Properties and Antifungal Activity of Active Coatings Containing Cinnamon Essential Oil for Anthracnose Control in Mangoes

open access: yesJournal of Food Science, Volume 90, Issue 12, December 2025.
ABSTRACT This study aimed to verify the stability of cinnamon essential oil (CEO) nanoemulsions after their incorporation into polymer‐based coatings for the control of anthracnose in mangoes. A 0.75% CEO emulsion with Tween 80 was produced via ultrasonication and incorporated into sodium alginate (1%) and carboxymethylcellulose (0.5%) solutions, with ...

Exploring the impact of fragrance molecular and skin properties on the evaporation profile of fragrances

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cosmetic Science, Volume 47, Issue 6, Page 981-995, December 2025.
Fragrance molecules release is influenced by skin type, with the effect varying depending on the specific fragrance compound. Two patterns of behaviour have been observed among fragrance molecules: the more volatile compounds whose evaporation increases with surface skin roughness and the less volatile and more lipophilic compounds influenced by skin ...

Properties of Resolved Star Clusters in M51

open access: yes, 2005
We present a study of compact star clusters in the nearby pair of interacting galaxies NGC 5194/95 (M51), based on multifilter Hubble Space Telescope WFPC2 archival images. We have detected ~400 isolated clusters.

A Study of Compact Radio Sources in Nearby Face-on Spiral Galaxies. II. Multiwavelength Analyses of Sources in M51 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
We report the analysis of deep radio observations of the interacting galaxy system M51 from the Very Large Array, with the goal of understanding the nature of the population of compact radio sources in nearby spiral galaxies.

Cloud-scale ISM Structure and Star Formation in M51 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
We compare the structure of molecular gas at 40 pc resolution to the ability of gas to form stars across the disk of the spiral galaxy M51. We break the PAWS survey into 370 pc and 1.1 kpc resolution elements, and within each we estimate the molecular ...

Discovery of an Intermediate-luminosity Red Transient in M51 and Its Likely Dust-obscured, Infrared-variable Progenitor [PDF]

open access: yesAstrophysical Journal, 2019
We present the discovery of an optical transient (OT) in Messier 51, designated M51 OT2019-1 (also ZTF 19aadyppr, AT 2019abn, ATLAS19bzl), by the Zwicky Transient Facility (ZTF).

Automated identification of spotted‐fever tick vectors using convolutional neural networks

open access: yesMedical and Veterinary Entomology, Volume 39, Issue 4, Page 829-841, December 2025.
We evaluate the performance of convolutional neural networks (CNN) AlexNet, ResNet‐50 and MobileNetV2 for the automated identification of tick species capable of transmitting spotted fever. CNNs achieved accuracy rates of ~90% in identifying ticks and showed sensitivities of 59%–100% according to species, sex, position or image resolution.

X-ray emission from the extended disks of spiral galaxies

open access: yes, 2009
We present a study of the X-ray properties of a sample of six nearby late-type spiral galaxies based on XMM-Newton observations. Since our primary focus is on the linkage between X-ray emission and star formation in extended, extranuclear galactic disks,
